This was just decent, meh, ok. The movie was entirely too long, the first hour was bad and overloaded with exposition, the script is half baked. After two films the 'entity' and Gabriel are still poor characters. I give this a 6.

This was not better than Dead Reckoning.

So long Luther :mjcry: (why did Ethan not find a bike or scooter or something to get to Luther, dude just had to run :mjlol: )

The submarine scene was tense but damn the amount of suspension of disbelief that is needed is immense

The final plane stunts were dope and hilarious, Ethan was rocking jaws and breaking arms at altitude :heh:

Gabriel was talking cash shyt only to get smoked by the rudder :laff:

Tbh Final Reckoning almost feels like a standalone film. Like I think if you had people skip Dead Reckoning I think people wouldn't have an issue if that happened.

Kind of like Dead Reckonign you got some retcons. Most in DR I thought was bad. The part of the Rabbits foot was unneeded. Though I did like William Donloe presence in the movie.

Star of the movie was Luther. I don't know how they would even have a Mission Impossible film without him. He is the only one that has the presence that Ethan had. He always has been calm and collective in the movie. Both him being comfortable and calm even if he bound to die. Then his message knowing Ethan will get the job done really hit home

Regarding Grace. I think she is my least favorite of the MI heroines. There was way too much of her being a haslle to Ethan that could easily have been caught out. She has a very similiar story as Nyah in 2, but the bloat puts her below her. Honestly the unneeded time on her should have gone to Gabriel. That retcon into one was so bad since it adds unanswered questions.

This would be my rankings since I watched the whole franchise for the first time. Tbh 1 if one didn't feel so dated it would be minimum top 3 for me.

  1. Rouge Nation
  2. Ghost Protocol
  3. III
  4. Fallout
  5. I
  6. Final Reckoning
  7. II
  8. Dead Reckoning
It's funny how for the last two movies there was too much unneeded stuff in comparison to Fallout that prob needed a bit more time to smooth things out. Easily the best action in the franchise still imo.

That submarine scene :camby:

It’s a 6/10. This series is dead.
Yeah I would agree. It feels weird to have another film without Luther :mjcry:
Saw it Thursday night. Movie was pretty mid. Fighting with the 2nd movie for worst one. The fun was gone. The sub scene was cool I guess because you get a sense of how deep and dark the ocean is. Scary place. The plane scene for the finale was just a rehash of Fallout with Henry Cavil's Walker. Being separated from the team for most of the film didn't help. They completely wasted Pom. Nearly 3 hours with constant exposition and flashbacks. Easily could've been 2 hours.

Gabriel is a weak ass villain. He served no purpose and the Entity was lame. They should've had Solomon Lane and the Syndicate as the villain.
Adding that also basically Grace replacing Ilsa who alongside Julia the most important female characters to Ethan. They put so much effort in DR building her up when Ilsa fits right in. There is the whole thing being top of the thief but na that isn't worth the time they spent on her in DR.

From 3 -> Fallout this franchise was on a great run. Really felt it in my binge for this. If they did a more followup they could just put one movie instead of the two here. Tbh the fact this movie was split into two parts should have been a red flag.

I did enjoy the film, but damn looking on it there are a good number of issues

The last 2 movies are probably my least favorite of the series.
MI II is the other film I am not a fan of. Honeslty if I were to rewatch teh franchise I would go 1 then 3 then follow up on each sequel but stop at Fallout.

The one thing I did dig about this was a nod to the cinematography of the first film with those tilted camera shots and the fast moving scenes in the background. Wouldn’t surprise me if some of the was shot at 22 fps.

I don’t think this is spoiler territory, but one of my frustrations with this movie was in Dead Reckoning they clearly hinted at Ethan and Gabriel having a past with each other involving Gabriel shooting an unidentified woman. They never went back to this and showed the same flashback from the previous movie.

Unless I missed something.

It's weird that MI series has made a ton of likeable female character, but Grace, Paris, and Tapeesa was basically window dressing with nothing going for them.

Grace being different level of annoying. Like pickpocket thief just turns IMF agent overnight is just lazy writing. If you're going to make 5.5 hour movie... Instead of doing unnecessary exposition dumps... Maybe develop your characters. Give her a training montage or some shyt. Give them a real arch.

for everyone that seen this….

Without spoiling question did it kinda end conclusively or does it actually feel like it’s the last?

Or is it still open ended where they can make another?

Left things open for a spinoff film or series with another crew. I personally think it’s a wrap for Ethan Hunt-led stories tho. Too much of a love letter to him, to Cruise, here.
