do y'all brehs ever travel to expand your cultural capital? not specifically directed at you op but just seems like when brehs travel, especially to traditional "black" destinations, it's for p*ssy, beaches, entertainment, and maybe food. seems like a trip like this, especially with your girl, could've be an opportunity for cultural immersion - becoming versed around afro-brazilians and their fight for civil rights and societal contributions (not just typical favela tours), doing a latin jazz tour, taking samba and capoeira lessons, day tripping or hiking the amazon and learning about the local biome, learning about conservation efforts, volunteering with a conservation org, taking part in a umbanda or candomblé ceremony or supporting an afro-brazilian artist in residence at a gallery or studio. all this would just be surface level shyt not anything really niche. like if you were a coffee aficionado and wanted to visit a brazilian coffee farm to see the production process first hand. this is how cultural capital is built brehs and is a currency that increases your social position. imagine later in life running into a non-assuming brazilian breh at the airport and it turns out he's the son of the president. y'all get to chopping it up for a lil bit and he ask you if you've been to brazil and your eyes light up and say you have but all you have to show for it is ass and beaches. when, if you would've taken more of an interest in the places you travel, you could've gotten your jared kushner on and parlayed that encounter into a deeper relationship or possible business opportunity.

When I went to Brazil this is what my trip was like. Also you should go to a local football game.

I did also do a “favela tour” which is basically mandatory these days for any trip to Rio :hubie:

The day we wanted to do the Flamengo match, it took so long to come down from Sugar Loaf Mountain we didn't make it. And the Favela tour, some tourist got stuck in a shootout the day before so they were too spooked to go Rio De Janeiro: Tourists stranded on hilltop after police raid on favela

On vacation, I would think most people do the cultural things during the day and party at night.

Americans typically don’t have a lot of vacation days. And people in general use their time off to recharge, not make international business relationships.

I went to a game in Salvador it was pretty exciting. Rival teams. Fans fighting and everything

And yea anything can happen in favelas but these days I imagine it’s pretty over saturated with tourists

I do think you can just walk right in popular favelas like rochina no your needed

What was Lapa like when you was there?

Bro mentioned the brazilian women more then his fiancé.

Why even put yourself in that position and you throwin in the towel soon, just go to all-inclusive next time and focus on your lady.

Tell your wife you have to go to Iceland for a work trip next time then head back :mjpls:

what's people obsession with the favelas?
you want to got to the hood like its the zoo :mjlol:

Favelas got some of the nicest people and a lot of stores/shops. And they’re built way up on the mountains so you get some really nice views of Rio.

Mainly i think it’s popular for YouTubers and streamers etc….

It’s just a poverty issue. It’s not the same as going to NYC and wanting to walk around the worst street in the Bronx

Yea, that sounds fun. Missing a Flamengo game and not doing a Capoeira class are my only two biggest regrets tbh. I didn't do Lapa, but my fiancée went with her friends and they said it was okay but nothing to call home about. Pedro De Sal and Afro Rio are better for parties and night life.

I spoke about this earlier, I mentioned the women because I know that's what the coli wants to hear. I remember I made a cyber security thread hear last year and got crickets until I changed the title to PAWG. I'm deadass.

I've been to Spain already, no interest in going to Italy. will go to France etc in the future I have self control and there's beautiful women everywhere. I went out on my own there (running the beach, day pass at the gym) I somehow resisted the urge to ruing my two month engagement by fukking a tan Brazilian on the side of the road

Its not really about self control, but moreso a breh going to candyland knowing he can't even sample the candy. Like breh already said I aint going nowhere in Latin America if I'm married outside of a resort. Now if you done been before while single, thats different.

Rio is ass, if you want good Brazilian food you need to go to where the afro-brazil spots are and that is in places like Bahia

Moqueca >>>

I see you tried moqueca, did they use palm oil at least (I head they cook it kinda different in some place)? Rio isnt the place I would go to for food being honest. try Salvador next time

I might fuk around and skip Japan and hit Brazil this year. I need to learn Portuguese though, would like to immerse myself.

Didn't you go solo?

Yea but then I would have to just be in the crib. It's temptation at the gym, summertime in NYC, I go to carnival, I work with mostly women. It is what it is

Yeah went solo honestly if you have the bread and the pto I would say aim to go around carnival season for Feb 2027 just my advice

Japan is still a good option but if you go to japan i would say see if you can take 2 week off and see if you can do a whole asia tour.

Bali, Thailand, and Vietnam are legit
