I’m pretty sure they finished the album shortly before Phife passed. Phife was even the one who came up with the album title.

The album definitely has songs that were made or finished after Phife died ("Lost Somebody," "The Killing Season," "Black Spasmodic," "Mobius," "The Donald"). I'm thinking it was going to be primarily Q-Tip, Phife, and Jarobi would step in for a few songs, but after Phife died, Q-Tip tried to get as many features as he could to finish it. I could be wrong because it was Tribe's last album, so there were always going to be guests, but it definitely wasn't finished before he died.

Swear I was just thinking about the bolded as I was listening to the new single. I want to say this was a P verse Alchemist provided, but I don't know if P and Hav ever did any music before he passed. It definitely doesn't sound like HD era P content wise.

Yeah, that verse is old as fukk

It's an unreleased song that most people haven't heard unless they're super die hard Mobb stans, and the verse fits the song super well.

I feel like the new record is damn near perfect. I've probably spun it 40 times the past 24 hours. It's stuck on repeat.

Edit: But P Against the World is dope and Sid Roams laced it

Phife died months before the album was done.

Tip said Phife died right when they started working on the album, and he had to spend the next few months doing it by himself. He said they knew it was coming, so they tried to get as much work done as possible, but that he passed quicker than they thought he would. So Tip ended up doing the rest solo since Ali said he didn't want to be involved. Jarobi came back though.
