P has one of the most unique rap styles in Hip Hop, certain verses you feel only he can come up with that, it’s not even mad complex lyrically a lot of the times, but it’s unique and poetic and dark/morbid while being light hearted and funny, he was a one of aikind.
You hit the nail on the head.

This is no a question a dope album. I had expectations for it & they were met.

With that said, it sounds kinda soulless to me. Ive deduced that it could be a lack quality samples or skits. Every Mobb or P album had some memorable trash talkin or rants or something. Album cover is pretty generic too.

Regardless of all that, this a solid album. Hav & ALC did exceptionally well for making a posthumous album.
Honestly, I like it a lot but kind of feel the same, that there is something just a little missing. Maybe an intro would've helped, something about how you will never break the mob. Even that Safe is Cracked joint had a little intro interview with Prodigy from jail that set it off.

That said, it's dope.

I also think I never came to terms with Prodigy's death. Yes, I never met the man. I wasn't his family or a friend. But I have had a lot of melancholy about him not being here anymore in a way I didn't expect.

Had a hectic weekend with kids sports and birthday parties, only just got the chance to properly soak in this album on a run today. Holy shyt this is fire, every song is fukking great.

"My Era", "Pour The Henny", "Clear Black Nights" to "Discontinued" is an insane 4 track run.

Hav and Alc did their thing here, P is spitting on all these joints too. My anticipation was high and it met and exceeded it :blessed:

Man I hope Hav goes on a Producer run from here.

There was a notable drop off on Infamy, when he was really sick with sickle cell. And then after that he just made a decision to change his rhyme style to more of a spoken word type flow. Way slower, and way more conversational, and less strict rhyming conventions. Expanded subject matter as well, diving deeper into conspiracy theory stuff and spirituality.

If you don't like it as much, that's fine. But a lot of people frame it to this day that P was trying to rhyme like he used to, but just couldn't do it. When the reality is he deliberately made a change to his rhyme style. He spoke on this several times during the 2010's.

One of the few artists to make a change fairly deep into their career, and it always bugged me that a lot of folks didn't understand that (love it or hate it) it was on purpose.
Didn’t know it was intentional. I first heard MOBB in 99 and then later digged into Infamous and HOE. 90s Prodigy to me is one of the greatest we ever heard.

Did not think that this would be this great.

Havoc channeling his inner Ennio Morricone on some of these joints

The Alchemist getting back to the original head nodders

Prodigy making me questioning if he is really gone or retired to Cuba

Must be one of the few that didn't mind the reprise on the randb singers tracks, that sample is 2x fat

Got this and Clipse as 1b and 1a for album of the year, it's really for Nas & Chris to take the crown if they can...

RIP Prodigy, one crazy little dude, biggest rap menace on the mic, wouldve not trusted a tv in his presence

I think the De La Soul album is going to surprise everyone. Look out for that to a potential AOTY spoiler.

This album has made me realize that I miss hooks in the current landscape of street raps. Mobb has always had really catchy hooks, and even some of the simple little hooks on here go a long ways.

80% of the street rap lane these days is hookless. And I’d rather hear no hook than a bad hook, but some of these guys could put a little more effort in

I think the lack of hooks nowadays is less of a stylistic choice and more so exposes the lack of songwriting ability and creativity from a lot of these modern street rappers.

Im a huge Mobb Deep fan.

First 4 songs were fine but nothing I want to run back. Track 5 with Noyd is the first one that really hits so far

Maybe it’s my New York bias but this is better to me than the clipse album. this doesnt have a lost tapes or lost verses feeling at all. This is a true ass album….
I love the clipse but the new album I thought it was ok but not great as everyone says it is. I feel like the production and the Pharrell hooks killed it for me. This Mobb Deep album is what I thought the clipse album was going to sound like. Also, I like the fact the Mobb Deep took it back to hoodies and hard beats with this album. No fashion shows or fashion related bs with the album. Get that shyt out of here

I got emotional while driving and Pour the Henny came on. On Wednesday, all the homies held a memorial for my cousin who died two years ago…he was two years older than when P died. :to:

I was very skeptical about this album because P isn’t here, but man did they do justice to his legacy. Hav, Al and Nas represented for P. :salute:
