It's simple, if modern gaming sucks then post the games you played/finished.

If someone is telling you modern gaming is garbage lately and they've only really played a couple of games in a year then their opinion is invalid. Like I know folks that say that but all they really play is COD.

Depends on the kinds of modern gaming. Conventional stuff tends to suck to the point where even my loved franchises (eg. Halo, Borderlands, Forza, etc) I cannot bring myself to play through the latest releases because corporate lemon squeezing has ruined the new titles. I still play through newer Nintendo titles when I get them, but they're kind of their own tier.

One thing I really don't like about modern is too many titles will put their eggs in the "immersion" basket and less on gameplay. It can work to set the world and theme (Ghosts of Tsushima for example), but other titles will just kinda lean on atmosphere and be otherwise shyt like AssCreed.

I play more indie and lately more older stuff. I have had a much better time playing through the OG Dark Forces more than any recent Star Wars release. Mullet Mad Jack is like an arcade microgame but the bite sized levels and simple pathing flows very well and makes it fun.

One aspect of modern gaming that is objectively terrible is the fact that modern video games release incompleted.

You can argue that they are complete and they just get updated and patched over time. But I don’t buy that.

You spend $70 for a game now and you have to wait 5 months for the developers to fix a bug. Or add maps or a gun.

There are 30 year old games you can pick up today and have a blast with.

I don’t know that you could pick up some game from 2015 without it being glitched or infested with hackers. Maybe that’s just part of the online gaming experience. But I kinda miss when you had a finished game you could have fun with offline.

There was no adding maps/characters/guns back in the day.

nikkas was dropping 70 to play as 4 new characters in Street Fighter 2.

People tend to forget the bugs and glitches we dealt with pre online gaming. Yes there were good games, but the bullshyt purchased/rented back in the day was crazy if you think about it

I wouldn't say modern gaming sucks, but a lot of it doesn't appeal to me. I play mostly sports games for the H2H but actively look for other games and deals in ps store and I'm not impressed.

BG3 was great but I have 0 interest in games like Astrobot, Forza or 90% of single player offline games. I just got older.

This aspect pisses me off so much. We are now spending $70-$80 now, which I can understand it has got expensive to develop games. The game should be in a good shape to be played on release. Not needing to wait for a patch if you bought the game day 1.

Which is a more issue on Western Dev side because outside RockStar who else makes well polished games on release. Well, Sony would count if you consider them a western developer now.

You had to purchase Super Street Fighter 2 to get the new characters (Dee Jay, Fei Long, Etc.)

Hell you had to buy Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition/Turbo or whatever just to play as the boss characters.

Tbh the older ppl get the more likely they are to bytch about things being different (mistaking it for being worse), no matter the form of entertainment (music, games, sports, etc). Only age groups i'd be interested to hear their experience on are (1) grade school kids and (2) college kids. Bc those groups typically have the most time to dedicate to gaming/exploring

Grown ass man with family and kids don't need to be talkin bout there ain't no good games to play. Go be a father nygga

Whereas in grade school, we fa sho playing video games with our friends after school and during winter break and summer vacation, etc. College kids, we fa sho gon have that 2-3 semester stretch where get our class sched just right and we got nothin but free time. I'd be surprised if those groups think gaming sucks bc it feels they got more online shyt, fightin shyt, and movie games. Even more so, nyggas can actually make money off of it if they good at it :mjlol:

Streaming and actual competitions. So I feel gaming might be peak for them
