There are so many games out that I don't know how you don't have new things to play in between waiting for the next release of a series you follow. GTA is not the only game. Idgaf if it takes 10 years because I have a whole ten years of other things to check out. That only applies to some AAA games. AA and indie also exist, not to mention games in genres you may not pay attention to and are missing out on.If you’re just getting into gaming or have only lived through 2 generations, yeah I’d say it’s getting better. Because you can play almost any game with one setup and easily. Plus most are updated HD versions.
But for those who have been gaming since the 90s gaming has definitely slowed down relatively speaking. Games are much better but stacked against older games without a time or technology barrier they become inferior.
If ocarina of time came out today it makes breath of the wild look like a pre alpha release of a nock-off Zelda.
Just think about how many game stores, news outlets, tv channels that were dedicated to gaming back in the early 2000s compared to what we have now. Gaming has become more mainstream but the underground nerdy side has been switched to mass market media games that appeal to a broader audience (lowest common denominator).
Lots of games pre 2010 would never be made today. Plus these new games have such a long self life that it’s easy to agree gaming is dead when we have to wait 10+ years for a new gta or your favorite game is getting its 3rd remastered in just 5 years.
I thought the skill trees and chips were fun.I’ll say, the most annoying thing about gaming nowadays are the fukking skill trees. Sometimes I just want to play and find some random weapons and use them…but games take an age to build your path.
The worst one was Robocop. I’m a fukking robot, just let me skill up normally and not have to get overly technical with the skill tree and chip fusing
Go play Expedition 33Modern trends suck, I'm trying to play FF16 and this shyt is awful so far, just going from one quest indicator to another, long ass menu with tiny fukking font, tutorial messages poping out even 4 hours into the game, no exploration, it feels like Ubisoft's Final Fantasy.
You don't here about the Superman 64, Def Jam Icon, Glover, COUNTLESS movie tie in games, etc. They never bring up the shytty games of the past. When they be nostalgic tripping lol.

No, just cherry pick the classics while ignoring the modem day classics and insane indie titles.
Some of the garbage I subjected myself to for a glimpse at an edited titty on BET Uncut....Same thing with music. nikkas now acting like the 2000’s was some type of golden age for rap when i remember living through the 106 & Park days
This is huge. Nostalgia cats forget how absolutely TRASH some games were back in the day. Games like Superman 64 or Drake of the 99 Dragons, or all those godawful Mortal Kombat clones in the late 90sThey never bring up the shytty games of the past. When they be nostalgic tripping lol.

And re: OP, if you're looking for innovative titles, play on PC. Big publishers aren't risking losses for some niche game.
I’ve said it before, but age plays a major factor when bruhs be on that “gaming is trash now” wave. A lot of bruhs are getting older and the magic. That they once felt from gaming and other forms of entertainment. Isn’t hitting like it used to be compared to when they were younger. That’s why nostalgia is such a strong feeling. It happens to almost everything and everyone once they get older. I wouldn’t be surprised if bruh. Also said that “Christmas is trash now” lol.
