I be having a blast with the games im playing.

Gaming has never been better for me :manny:

Internet just likes being negative about everything.
Your right, every gen there’s been a plethora of games to play. Way too many to get to, i still haven’t touched all the bangers from this year alone due to time constraints

If you’re just getting into gaming or have only lived through 2 generations, yeah I’d say it’s getting better. Because you can play almost any game with one setup and easily. Plus most are updated HD versions.

But for those who have been gaming since the 90s gaming has definitely slowed down relatively speaking. Games are much better but stacked against older games without a time or technology barrier they become inferior.

If ocarina of time came out today it makes breath of the wild look like a pre alpha release of a nock-off Zelda.

Just think about how many game stores, news outlets, tv channels that were dedicated to gaming back in the early 2000s compared to what we have now. Gaming has become more mainstream but the underground nerdy side has been switched to mass market media games that appeal to a broader audience (lowest common denominator).

Lots of games pre 2010 would never be made today. Plus these new games have such a long self life that it’s easy to agree gaming is dead when we have to wait 10+ years for a new gta or your favorite game is getting its 3rd remastered in just 5 years.

the lack of variety on certain genres of AAA game is a problem, but also the lack of genuine innovation in gameplay. i think VR was supposed to be that new leap, but it's just not good enough.

I hate how alot of modern games are trying to be as simple as possible and afraid to be difficult. As someone who plays fighting games alot of new games are starting to remove the classic inputs for more simple inputs to attract casual players but at the same time alienating alot of veteran fans of the genre. I understand the need to reach out to new audiences but oversimplifying a genre is the worst way to do the shyt because you don't please everybody 95% of casuals that do buy the game will play it for a bit and move on to the next game of the week.

I’ll say, the most annoying thing about gaming nowadays are the fukking skill trees. Sometimes I just want to play and find some random weapons and use them…but games take an age to build your path.

The worst one was Robocop. I’m a fukking robot, just let me skill up normally and not have to get overly technical with the skill tree and chip fusing
the most recent zelda games do exactly that and a large base of players don't like it :manny:

can't please everybody, and the internet just makes it seem like every criticism is so much larger than it might actually be

Micro transactions are half my beef with games nowaways. Season passes, day one patches, live service games...nah. I 100% agree with the video. Series like Quake died and were replaced with shyt like COD, and even Counter-Strike went with lootboxes. Not that I am opposed to change but the reasons people pick up games are different now. Part of that is good because of the amount of choices, but the other is people put down games so quick because a lot are only made to be virtual slot machines. Don't dare buy most multiplayer games these days or their population is in the hundreds a month after release.

For the most part. Competition has almost ceased between platform makers and game design has retreated into comfort zones, live services, and excessive remakes. It's becoming a more homogeneous product. As the console generations advance the returns diminish. We're no longer at the point where generational leaps between games enable entirely new feeling experiences.

If you experienced Mario 64 of Madden 2001 those generational leaps breathed new life into their respective series. Even as far as the Wii and Mario Galaxy. That type of generational advancement is over with. You're just getting slightly prettier versions of the same games you're already playing now.

Not saying we don't still get our share of good games but still.

Dude basically said games was good when people got together and played.

:manny:

Which I ironically say all the time :unimpressed:

Yes gaming was way more engaging when people got together and played co-op.

But to be honest gaming was an experience like movies and music, it was an event to go out. Go the mall or game store, browse for a game, get a game store employees opinion and then get it home. Just like it was for music and movies.

For me, I'm an offline single player type of dude and just want a real dope immersive franchise mode for 2K and Madden. They put all their effort into online and microtransactions, which I understand, but don't forget the lil people on your way to the top
