so every bisexual/gay guy is supposed to have the same thoughts/actions? there are some gay/bi guys who are completely masculine and comfortable with their sexuality.....just like there are some gay/bi guys married to women because they aren't comfortable with their sexuality.
Bro, did you even see the movie? His friend did nothing when he was being bullied for being gay and was even persuaded into beating him up. Which ultimately led the main character to going to prison because he smashed a chair on his bully's back during class.

yeah i saw it.

the dilemma that the latin/mixed kid faced is something many black/latin gay dudes are faced with at some point. how many kids in Miami Dade, or any other AA/latin area, would actually stand up for somebody being teased as gay....especially if you're secretly gay yourself? it's a lot easier to join in on the bashing....then to get bashed yourself. it's fukked up....but it's real life

Bro, he didn't find himself at the end of the movie. That's why he was gangbanging, wearing grills, durag, driving a similar car as the older breh. How did he find himself? Please tell me breh. That's why I said the movie felt incomplete.

Maybe it wasn't even about finding himself, more so him emulating one of the few male figures he had in his life.

And as for his friend thing it came out of nowhere. Why would what happened between them in their teens and not before? Just that one and only time? It ain't make no sense to me.

His friend didn't even seem embarrassed about liking men. I've seen it happen in other movies and the bisexual dude usually denies it after it went down. Dude seemed all cool like he did it before.

That's what made the movie even better IMO. Not everyone gets a fairy tale ending in life. We have senior citizens still finding themselves.

I thought it was a great movie. It was very well shot, acted, scripted, etc. The fact that he was gay wasn't even a point they harped on in the movie. You wouldn't even know it was part of the story really. It was a really good coming of age story and seemed realistic and relatable even if you're not gay. The guy that plays the main character is :whew: too. It's a story that could speak to people of all walks of life. I don't know what other movies it's up against but I hope it wins. Great to see black writers able to write real black stories. And honestly, straight black men aren't the only black people around. We all have a story to tell.

Great flick.

way better than BON.:whoa: I went to see it too, it just wasn't that impressive to me.

Yes I understand that, but that along with him not being embarrassed at all about what went down between the boht o them just didn't match up to me. Plus he seems sort of predatory from the way he looked at the main character and made moves on him.

believe it or not....there's plenty of guys like that....
behind closed doors its :shaq:
out it in the streets its :birdman:

i just thought about something else in the movie

its kind of a funny how when they were kids....the main character was soft, looked at as effeminate, etc and the latin kid was the masculine, macho one with all the hoes. once they grew up and reconnected...the main character was thugged out, pushin the caddy, with the grills. and the mixed dude is in the kitchen with a hairnet making supper for his boo :russ:
