The entire way of how funding is setup in Mississippi is to keep HBCUs "poor and unattractive"
I watched that December session...
The Mackenzie Scott money has thrown a severe wrench in their mission to have HBCUS non competitive. Alcorn is the 1st HBCU to reach 7 figures in endowment. And it will provide us with a substantial amount of financial freedom. We are currently ranked 4th in the state in endowment funds, over 2 pwis. They are not happy with that. They came very hard at the IHL commissioner who's an Alcornite. Thankfully our student outcomes are solid. But they specifically mentioned that Valley's grad rates were "abysmal" and unacceptable.
Yep. The Rate HBCU series is a top 3 Coli series, and that particular wrinkle in the backstories of a few of the schools was very eye opening.
Segregationists tried to get ahead of the curve.
Unfortunately, this maga-fied modern era might have us see the closing of a few schools.
