Anyways, I'm for the unity of all black people. Black people who identify as black and have pride in being black. Not "black" people I have to debate other black people about because they've never in their life claimed to be black.

A Jamaican will call himself Jamaican before he calls himself black. A Nigerian will call himself Nigerian before he calls himself black. Only in America are people associated by color and not nationality. And by people I mean "black" people... :coffee:

Na so? That’s because Americans divide themselves by race. Most places on earth outside America divide themselves on ethnicity or nationality

YOU DESCEND FROM AMERICAN SLAVERY THOUGH. THAT IS WHAT THEY WERE THEY WERE SLAVES.

YOUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HERE FOR CENTURIES.

AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS HAVE NOT.

THIS IS NOT REALLY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND IMO.

Your tying your whole lineage to slavery by giving yourself the title of "descendant of slaves". As if your people were not great before that time period that was really barely a blip considering everything...

Nah Africans are sweethearts when I’m around them in person, no issues at all. Most of the Africans in my city try to assimilate with the AA community so there’s a mutual respect

Yea the young ones. Even though they hang with you, their parents are telling them don't bring you home.

Yet they still call themselves black and see themselves as black. Be it first or second. If they're filling out a form, they are not checking "white" or "Hispanic or latino".

"Only in America"....Since the majority of us posting on this board are in America and this is an American based forum, what happens in America is primarily what matters and what we will be able to discuss intelligently:coffee:.

Agreed. And thats why they feel let down every time a person that looks like them says they arent "black". Because they dont understand that they're the only ones not going by a nationality/ethnicity

What’s black in America doesn’t have the same connotation elsewhere.

Example -
Af-Am: You’re black!
Nigerian: Of course I’m black. But I also come from a culture which has existed for more than 1000 years. I’m Igbo! Moreover, the chief enemies of my people are ‘black’ too.

Thats because of limited options :coffee:

It should be what matters to "black" people and not what matters to the cacs who run America but hey :coffee:

What's because of limited options? You said a jamaican and a Nigerian calls themselves their nationality first and black second. They still consider themselves black. What exactly do you want to go back and forth with me about?

How one identifies clearly matters to Blacks in America and on this forum in particular, which is an American based forum. Again, what exactly are you arguing?

What you tend to either forget or disregard is that some if not alot of us over here ARE what you call "igbos". Probably more than there are in Nigeria itself considering there are people of Igbo heritage in North and South America along with Cuba if Im not mistaken...

Bruh its not hard. If you ask a Jamaican what he is he'll tell you he's Jamaican. He wont say black. Same with a Nigerian or Ghanian or "black" Dominican. You then ask "what will he identify as" when it comes to the census and I said "black" because of limited options. If the census had a blank line for self identification then they'd put their nationality, not a color....

People have been calling themselves black for centuries but not as a nationality/ethnicity. That didnt happen till cacs came into rulership. So I said "black" people should be identifying themselves in regards to what matters to them (which should be a nationality/ethnicity/tribal affiliation) and not based on what matters to America (that you stay "black" and never figure out where your homeland is)...

So what Im suggesting is that "black" people stop using "black" as a nationality because it only ends up with us being confused when someone that looks "black" doesnt identify with us. Since theres a Nigerian breh in the thread, Igbos, Hausa, and Yoruba look similar and would be identified as black if here. But guess what? Over there they dont fukk with each other and its not because of "c00ning" but because they go by culture/nationality/tribal affiliation NOT color/appearance.

Jesus christ. He can say he's jamaican. He can say he's Nigerian. He can claim whatever fukking nationality he wants. Does he consider his race white in any shape, form or fashion? No one uses black as a fukking nationality because it isn't a fukking nation. My exes were Nigerian and Somalian. Both claimed black as their race. That's who I fukk with. People who claim their race as black and are proud of it. Not some white puerto Rican with white skin and silky hair who will never in his life claim to be black.

Suggest whatever you want. If you don't like the topics being discussed on this Black American based forum populated by Black Americans, make your own forum.
