"High end" is dictated by what affordable, just like "low end" is.

OK breh...let's break it down this way. If high end is dictated by whats affordable then the Gtx 980 ti/amd equal is not an high end graphics card because it's affordable to "most". It's in the mid range spectrum. It's cool that the x1x is performing as well as a PC with a $400 graphics card, but I reiterate the price of a single graphics card =/= high end pc, which doesn't take away from the x1x being the cheaper alternative to achieve 4k gaming.
When you look at the numbers of who owns what card GTX 980 is on the "high" end of things. Majority of PC gamers are gaming well below that level. Therefore it doesn't make sense to call it "mid", otherwise you are saying that the majority of PC gamers are playing on "low end" hardware.
