They only get paid that if they make over min wage in tips. They are liars trying to get sympathy for not having a real job and not being even in the slightest but necessary.
I take it you never go to restaurants? :comeon:
I understand where she's coming from, but all this running to social media to tattletale on people...wtf!?!?!? She'll HAVE to get over it. I've worked in the fast food industry. I know what it is to slave away for measly tips while getting stiffed every now and then (from the most well off people too!!). But, at the end of the day, a tip should NOT be expected even if its warranted. Just keep it moving.
No, fast food is not the same as working as a server. No one is expected to tip the person at McDonalds because they make a regular hourly wage. The server in a sit-down restaurant relies on tips for basically their entire income. It is definitely expected and not optional. If youre having a tough time with this, do not go to sit-down restaurants.

Tipping was not implemented as a way to uplift people. Therefore relying on tips is a degrading way to make a living. Working as a waiter in itself is not degrading. It's the tipping aspect that cheapens it.

Food prices going up doesn't matter because it is psychological. People will pay more and not notice because that is the price you asked for. Don't ask for xx and then tact on 20% more and not expect for people to object. Pay 20% more just because its customary.

Charge what needs to be charged to make sure your employees are paid fairly. Everyone wins. Your employees aren't crying over 2.50 and hour and your customers aren't complaining about paying "extra". It doesn't matter that the customer would end up paying the same amount or more. People don't want to feel like they are responsible for the salary of employees. Remove the barrier to feeling that way and everyone wins.

Why would anyone argue against waiters being paid a fair wage? Is the previous poster correct in stating that this is all a sham and waiters don't want to be paid an hourly wage because it would lead to a pay cut?
Then dont go to fukking restaurants. No one is forcing you to. Hit the drive thru, hit up Chipotle, no one will care when you dont tip. Better yet hit the grocery store and make your own food. But this is the way the restaurant industry works and it is not changing. If you dont agree with the practice then dont patronize those businesses.

Exactly. If you don't want to tip or hate it then stay the fukk home. Why is it that difficult to understand?

It's not that way everywhere, Cali waiters make at least whatever minimum wage is in that city, plus SF has the nerve to add a 3% health tax to your bill (a tax the business should be paying for its workers) so, yea, I'm not really the one to feel waiters out here are entitled to a tip, espeically not the "standard" 20% that seems to have been so widely socialized, and especially when I'm paying for your health care. The restaurants might as well put a "utility bill" tax on there as well
I want people who don't intend on tipping to not go to restaurants If you're cheap, or you don't have disposable income eat at home don't be petty and shyt on the waiters/waitresses calling what they do degrading because they rely on tips to survive. When you don't tip or tip poorly, it's not hurting the restaurant. It's hurting the waiters/waitresses. The restaurant already gets their money when you buy the food. Either you tip, or we abolish the tipping system and food prices increase as a result. Either way, the cost is pushed onto the customers. You're going to end up paying about the same regardless of what happens. Don't know why people get so upset over tipping when this is the reality of the situation.

That is not the point. Why are you penalizing the waiter? You think fukking over the waiter will change how the boss pays them? You're just contributing to the fukkery. You know you're cheap as hell and using this pathetic excuse to get out of tipping.

but yet if the consumer said if you want to make a liveable wage you should get a better job, they would be an a$$hole

i'm so tired of this bullshyt "woe is me, my job is so hard and nobody respects me" attitude from the lower level service industry like waiters and cashiers who get all pissy about doing their job and cry about everyone but their employer.

the industry won't change because you're too fukking lazy to do anything about it and keep lining up to work for them. whether people decided to stand against tipping or stopped patronizing the businesses the outcome would be exactly the same, but it's not the public's job to make your job pay you.

No, I worked as a driver for Dominoes. Tips are definitely expected because drivers make like 2.50 (well below minimum wage). I would go to these nice neighborhoods with mansions, and get NO TIP...nada...zero...zip!!! I would get in my car, pissed the fukk off, and drive back to get the next batch of pizzas. I know its frustrating as fukk, but you can't be in that mindset that you're entitled to tips. I just kept it moving.
