All NYC rappers that had next between 2004-2009

Jada never had that one hit that propelled him to superstardom. Still had a very solid career though.

almost listed them but there’s still time for Dave East

Nah Dave East is done. He has the look but can't write a song to save his life. His career was bungled. I get why Def Jam wanted him to pal around with Nas to give him cred with "real rap" fans or whatever, but they should have also paired him with an A&R and songwriter. Writing bars is whatever...nobody really cares. You need to know how to write a hook. A bridge. Find a catchy pocket in a beat. He can't do any of that in an era where melody rules.

Real talk NY fell off a cliff once throwing an r&b chick on the hook stopped being successful. Once NY had to compete with southern rappers on hooks it was over.

issue w dave east is he went too far from the sound that was working for him

i was running back kairi chanel the other day, type of time and 30 nikkas and even it was written are leagues ahead the aimless joints hes been putting out in terms of cohesiveness

its mad odd that was his peak and he just moved away from that

What hits Fab got besides that song in like 99 with Nate Dogg and throw it in the bag? You east coast dudes over hype Fab. Nobody outside the tri state area has gave a damn about Fab since like 03:mjlol:

"Can't Deny It" came out in 2001, which is crazy because it's almost exactly 20 years ago. "Trade It All" w/ Jagged Edge was a hit. "Can't Let Go" w/ Mike Shorey was a hit. "So Into You" w/ Ashanti was a hit. "Breathe" was a hit. "Baby" was a hit. "Make Me Better" was a hit. I know >'m missing some, but Fab had multiple hits.

So Cal
He had singles though and none of them hit. He actually dropped Statlanta on Sony, but again, nothing hit.
By the time statlanta dropped it was too late. Like dat was his only true single, it did flop though.

He did some writing on Kush, which was a lightweight hit. :manny:
