These beats are so underwhelming. DJ Premier my favorite producer of all time and I can honestly say he didn’t deliver. When nikkas start talking about you can’t listen to the beats in headphones and telling you what speakers you have to use, that means something wrong with the beats, not you.

I wanted to quickly mention that "Writers" is really a beautiful record!

Especially for us that grew up in graff culture here in NYC, in the 90's. To hear Nas shout out all of those names of the legends we either knew, or looked up to back then, was mad dope. I was shocked that he even heard about a lot of the people he mentioned. If you know about the scene back then, that record is ridiculously special to listen to and just vibe out to.

We don’t have a lot of high quality records about writers. So to get that from Nas on this album, was something we always wanted.

Already top 3 graf song to me. Well, maybe 4. I might be being a prisoner of the moment to say I like it better than "Out For Fame" after just a few hours, lol. But I agree, for him to show that much love, shout out and delve into Style Wars, and not even just keep it confined to NYC writers was beautiful.

SINY!!
Nas and AZ are just magic together. I can’t think of one wack song they ever did together.

Agreed. Now that we got the Nas/Premo album......which off first listen I love it (Pause Tapes is probably the only skip for me).....as an old head I would love a Nas/AZ album call it "The Flyest".....produced by Hit-Boy, Alchemist, Primo, Buckwild, etc.

The disrespect for Prem is downright blatantly harsh and disregards his worth. It’s manifesting as online verbal abuse, public humiliation and constant boundary violations from so called hip hop fans who is displaying controlling bully behavior towards a LEGEND who dedicated HIS life to this art form. It is extremely rude, belittling and makes the recipient of the disrespect ask: WHERE IS THE LOVE?
we love Preemo

This nikka rappin bout how he making money off plastic recycling :wtf:

He just rappin to rap at this point.

Flow is sharp as ever but he might want to take a hiatus for a little bit, let nikkas miss him.

Second listen, shyt is uninspired.

I'll keep running back "Pause Tapes" though

I feel like what we’re seeing is a generational divide when it comes to the production.

As an elder millennial, this is exactly the kind of stripped down back to basics a la Gangstarr albums from the early 90’s that I was hoping for.

Of first listen this is easily 4/5 crowns for the King and Premo laced him something serious

This right here. Im an elder millennial too in my early 40's and while I do like that sort of "stripped down" Gang Starr sound of the early 90's I was hoping for more "Come Get Me" and "Nas Is Like" type stuff

There are hints of it here and there like on Writers and Bouquet, but most of the beats are stripped down and minimalist.

But, I understand that's the sound and vibes they were going for.....that 1993-1994 vibe
