Already top 3 graf song to me. Well, maybe 4. I might be being a prisoner of the moment to say I like it better than "Out For Fame" after just a few hours, lol. But I agree, for him to show that much love, shout out and delve into Style Wars, and not even just keep it confined to NYC writers was beautiful.

True.

I was listening to it again last night, with mad pride and appreciation for Nas doing the song. LOL!! Damn near teary-eyed. Graff was my life in the 90's, so this was a really special record, for me. Just hearing all the names we used to idolize was mad fly, to me!

The Preemo joints on De La Soul's album raised my expectations for this album when in reality it should have made me realize that about 3 joints per album is what he should be limited to at this stage in his career. Nas still in top form but Preemo...

The only clear problem with the album is they came out the gate slow imo…which is super dangerous, less decorated/less respected rappers without the stripes can fukk up the entire feng shui of their album like that…you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression type shhit, but we give Nas grace. It’s Nas, we’ll happily stick around and wait and let him slow cook. And on this joint, damn you will be happy you did, lol.

From Madman on, this is a beautiful masterpiece of an album bro, this shhit makes you want to watch Beat Street or sumn, lol, facts. There are moments before “Madman” (Nas highlights really, not Premier, respectfully)…but Madman on, besides maybe one or 2 joints that are still good but not great, this shhit is pure greatness.

This is for hip hop heads, 1000%, you can tell it was a conscious decision. That’s one of the perks of being really rich, lol, as an artist and just as a human in general, you have the liberty to do what you want to do, you don’t have to conform. He definitely didn’t with this, he had a specific mission and target and didn’t compromise shhit for shhit, 🫡. Reminds me of that quote from Charli XCX (lol), “When you apply the ‘something for everyone’ approach to art, that’s when you kill the coolness”. Super facts. This is strictly for hip hop lovers. Glad I took the day off so I can run through it more than once, pause.

Those are my favorites, in order, so far. About to read through the thread and see all of y’all’s. Nas is far and away, without a doubt, the greatest rapper ever and he should highkey be the logo for hip hop…I’m dead ass. #queens. 8 to 8.5 out of 10 for me, only brought do by the slow start.

I agree at this point a 3-4 track batch from Premo is the best you can get. I was very excited after hearing the Git Ready clip last night, which sounded funky and dope as fukk. But that's probably the best beat on here and one of the only ones I'd call great. And personally that hook kind of kills my love for it with the return of crypto Scarface bars. What the fukk man lol.

Gonna keep revisiting this weekend. Def some dope tracks like I said but this could be an EP and be better than 15 tracks.

These beats are so underwhelming. DJ Premier my favorite producer of all time and I can honestly say he didn’t deliver. When nikkas start talking about you can’t listen to the beats in headphones and telling you what speakers you have to use, that means something wrong with the beats, not you.

:wtf:
you nikkas got different ears bro. Maybe this brand of rap just isn't for you.
Nah this brand of rap is exactly for me. I grew up on boom bap, and Premier made some of my favorite beats of all time. For me, his tracks were always the highlights on any album between the early 90's and early 2000's, particularly on Biggie, Nas, and Jay's albums during that era. O.C's "My World" is still in my rotation. Common's "6th Sense", Mos Def's "Mathematics", etc. The list goes on. As far as full projects, I ran Moment of Truth into the ground when it dropped. It didn't leave my Discman for months.

Maybe my expectations were too high although I tried to keep them tempered. Maybe my reaction was too knee-jerk. I'm going to give it more spins and revisit with my thoughts.

This nikka rappin bout how he making money off plastic recycling :wtf:

He just rappin to rap at this point.

Flow is sharp as ever but he might want to take a hiatus for a little bit, let nikkas miss him.

Second listen, shyt is uninspired.

I'll keep running back "Pause Tapes" though

That's his world now. Those are the things that spark his interests.
