I like it because it reminds me of local rappers in the late 80s and early 90s rapping on cassette tapes and handing 'em out on the streets, that's the vibe I believe he was going for, a raw yet amateur sound to resonate with the title.

Am I the only one who actually likes all these beats? I'm on my first listen and I already know this is going to be the first album of this recent run Nas is on where I enjoy and want to listen to the songs over and over. To me, these beats aren't too far off in quality from the level of the Group Home album. Like, are people being serious when they say they don't like this?

I love the album but I loved all the Hitboy albums so take it for what it's worth.
Also, why the fukk are people still on that Nazi platform Twitter?

The opening song is a piano beat.the cope in this thread pure comedy. pause tapes the worst beat I heard all year
even the scratches sound like ass![]()

Nasir (2018) was effectively a Kanye West solo album with Nas replace Kanye as the main performer.
Light-Years (2025) is pretty similar; effectively a Gang Starr album with Nas replacing Guru. By nature of Nas and Preemo having great chemistry it's a much better record than Nasir, but there are limits to how much you can take Gang Starr's formula without Guru.
