I like it because it reminds me of local rappers in the late 80s and early 90s rapping on cassette tapes and handing 'em out on the streets, that's the vibe I believe he was going for, a raw yet amateur sound to resonate with the title:yeshrug:.

It's hilarious because they straight up describe the concept in the intro, the whole song break down the process they still don't get it :pachaha:

Am I the only one who actually likes all these beats? I'm on my first listen and I already know this is going to be the first album of this recent run Nas is on where I enjoy and want to listen to the songs over and over. To me, these beats aren't too far off in quality from the level of the Group Home album. Like, are people being serious when they say they don't like this?

I don't fet it. There's 1 whole beat on this album I don't really fukk with. That's it. One beat out of 15. Nas is obviously the star of the album but I have no idea what people are listening to calling this production mid or wack.

Nasir (2018) was effectively a Kanye West solo album with Nas replace Kanye as the main performer.

Light-Years (2025) is pretty similar; effectively a Gang Starr album with Nas replacing Guru. By nature of Nas and Preemo having great chemistry it's a much better record than Nasir, but there are limits to how much you can take Gang Starr's formula without Guru.

Liked this album a lot last night. Spun it back on the road today and fukking love it. They absolutely delivered if you ask me. If I was executive producing this, I may have scrapped or reworked maybe 2 or 3 songs and replaced them with Hitboy for a little variety. All in all, a great project nonetheless.

Even if it's not your personal cup of tea, one thing no one can't deny is that Nas LOVES hip hop. This was his tribute to the culture and you gotta respect that.
