Gibbs too ignorant
Electronica is FOI, they aint givin him no award
Nobody even heard the other dude's album...or heard of him
I don't think Royce will win it because his shyt didn't really impact at all, in any way. I wouldn't mind seeing him win tho

They better give my niggy Esco that shyt man, there's no reason not to.

Even though your right I still laughed:russ:

I’d call Gibbs “sophisticated ignorance” . Dude raps his ass off.

Jay Elect Live From New Orleans stayed true to himself as an artist through and through:wow: he’s got to be the most popular 5 Percenter Artist to be nominated since Wu-Tang Forever. It feels like one of those things where the nomination is the award for him.

D Smoke- No

Royce- Dope ass album. Again it feels like the nomination is the award for him

Nasir Bin Olu Dara got this one:ahh:

i love all these type albums but man look, after thinking about this thread for a few days without posting...the fact that pop smoke album wasnt nominated but royce n d smoke were is a joke....it is man and im pretty backpack hip hop:yeshrug:

I don't think Pop Smoke's album was all that to be honest. Had the hits and all but that was not the album he would have released if he was alive. Too many duds, not a consistent album front to back.

I can see a stronger case for Lil Baby's project.

Several points

1. It is cute seeing the radio pop fans all in a tizzy regarding their favorites' complete shutout from the nominations for best rap album. I have never heard this level of bytching from fans of less commercial artists come Grammy season, it's been accepted that this ain't the stage usually for that.

2. It's kind of insulting to hear these same commercial artists (along with members of their entourage) insinuate or blatantly state that the noms aren't "representative of the culture". What the fukk? Imagine Vanilla Ice saying... You know what I'm not even gonna go there

3. I do agree that hip-hop is a wide umbrella now and the awards going forward should reflect that. So split the awards into two. Have one award focusing on what gets radio play amongst the PAWGs in Southern California. Drake can run up his Grammys in that category. Have one award focusing on actual artistic quality, regardless of commercial impact. Grade the raps, the beats, the melodies, the breadth and depth of topics. This really doesn't have to be an old vs young thing. Kendrick and Cole have released excellent albums from a critical perspective. And DAMN would be up for noms in both categories, as an example.

4. It is refreshing to see Nas and Royce and Gibbs and Jay Elect get their shine on the big screen.

1. nikkas who are commercial but less so, bytch about being snubbed. And for nikkas who arent commercial completely know they wont make it for exactly that of not being pop. So idk why you bringing that up

2. Baby and Rod are not Vanilla Ice in the slightest:mjlol: you sound dumb as hell saying this

3. And there is artistic quality in Baby and Roddy rich's album and other nikkas alike who would fit in two categories, that two categories is interesting. But for now we can acknowledge grammys messed up without having to solely deflect.

so because he puts together some bars hes "sophisticated ignorance" this is some silly logic to imply a nikkas rap skills = intelligence:mjlol:

the nikka is ignorant just as baby and roddy and others like them are or any hood nikka. Hell prolly even more so than Lil Baby and Roddy rich arguably. I fw gibbs but dude is not sophisticated just because he puts together a nice little 16 :comeon:

Jay Electronica:mjlol:bum.

Royce:skip:never cared for him.

D Smoke???? Don't know who he is.

Nas. Got respect for him, love his old work but haven't listened to his new shyt.

Gibbs is not as good as y'all say he is. Alfredo was very solid tho.

Overall. The Grammys fukked up like usual:yeshrug: they need to add more balance and make another categories maybe. They do it for other genres. They have no respect for the culture so they just give us a few categories and call it a day. Smh. Yet rap and black culture sell the most and influence the whole world.

What balance? Before this year, everyone used to shyt on the Noms for being all mainstream.

People wanted for decades for a Nom pool like this, now some people wanna act upset about it.

Okay put Macklemore, Megan, Cardi, Chance, Iggy back in there....

Grammys have no credibility but this definitely more towards the pool they should be nominating than they usually do.

U can be good and sell a lot

Just say you like traditional 90’s rapping and keep it pushing

Lil Baby really be rapping but because it’s packaged in melodies and a Southern drawl with modern lingos and speech patterns he’s trash

Jay done sold the most, DMX, Pac, Biggie, 50, etc. and they’re said to have dropped “classics” and albums of the year but suddenly in 2020 Lil Baby is just McDonald’s

lil baby does not really be rapping

You must be living under a rock
KD has been critically acclaimed by all publications and by most fans

Even was the theme music to the NBA finals on ABC.

LIG was good, but had too many skippable joints in what resulted in a somewhat boring album.

KD is Nas in his true essence

neither one of those albums had skippable songs
