Again, not to this extent. nikkas who are less commercial or not commercial, along with their fans, know what the deal is. You'll have a few naive ones who complain. But it's nowhere near the collective outcry and bytching I've heard from radio rap artists and fans this year.

If you can't see what's wrong with artists like Drake saying the culture isn't being represented in the nominations then I don't know what to tell you. No one is saying Baby is Ice, dumbass.
I'm not saying no art is involved in Lil Baby's release. What I am saying, is that if you're judging albums solely based on critical acclaim, then Lil Baby and Roddy Rich fall well short. They have good albums, but that's it.
An example of an album that would win awards in both categories? DAMN. Ready to Die. The Blueprint (Jay-Z). Albums that people will refer to in 10 years time, looking back. Classics of a subgenre, like Jeezy's releases or that run that Future went on a few years ago. That ain't Lil Baby, FOH

OK, but who is to say the albums that get placed in that hypothethical list will be refered to people 10 years from now. Hell this list that you seem to be defending has no album on there that will be referred to 10 years from now

and you bring up damn, when i have been seeing kendrick fans as of late, shyt on it in their retrospective view of the album so your nonsense of "albums...10 years" already has a hole on it. As the fans of Kendrick see it as his weakest album and some flat out hate it.

Neither bruh. Life is Good is great all the way through and so is Kings Disease. The closest to a skip on either project is the swizz joint on life is good and on a summer day I'd play that too.
Benny was after the eligibility period. He’ll have to submit for 2022.
Nas has literally the BEST chance of his entire career to take the W. He has the name recognition, acclaim, and he’s sold the most out of every nominee

Gibbs helped make the underground cool again I’m fine with him getting shine even though I think if you’re going this route StoveGod and Boldy’s albums were better, same with Royce.

i think the issue here isnt the lack of commercial picks. its moreso the fact that none of these albums are getting bumped in real life. so for alot of people, its just as bad as iggy & macklemore getting nods. theyre still getting it wrong. theyre just bricking from the other end of the court.
and its nothing new. its like how people used to be
over artists/albums that received forced nods at award shows and got high marks in the source or other magazines, but got little to no play outside.

It's not about the better album though. This is the Grammys, not the music quality awards. Is LIG the better album? Of fukking course. Should Take Care have won that year? Yes. Not only was it the biggest rap album of the year it defined the (mainstream) rap sound for at least a couple years. You want to give the credit to Abel and the producers for the reverb/90s r&b sound fine. But that was the sound of that year, and the next year. Hell you could hear it on LIG on Bye Baby.
The other rap categories that year were obvious too. No Church In The Wild was obviously gonna win. nikkas In Paris. Inevitable. I thought Nas' best chance was Cherry Wine because of Amy Winehouse but I knew that wouldn't be enough to stop Hov and Kanye.
