Breh, it's a Nas thread on The Coli which will have the following coming out of the wood work:

1) Jay Z stans who are still stuck in 2001-2002

2) Dip Set stans who are still stuck in 2002

3) Current generation stans who hate that vets like Nas still have fans

4) @Big Mel with his usual swipes at Nas especially post Illmatic Nas

5) Last, but not least, the "let's downplay Nas's legacy" just because or at the very least troll his fans
Let's really keep it bloody, it's grown men defending their favorite rapper at all costs like they're teenage girls with boy band posters on their walls. 30+ at that. :scust:

I dont blame from for saying that shyt. Some of these folks act like all the albums that are considered classics are the only albums that certain artists drop. They dont be checking out discographies.

And yeah, illmatic is great but theres a lot of great albums that need our attention and deserve recognition. Nas has other albums even if some of those albums are...

Jiu Jitsu
He shoulda made a better album than Illmatic then :yeshrug:
Honestly though 2 things.

1. It's hard to top arguably the great hip-hop album of ALL TIME. So that's a borderline impossible task.

2. Illmatic could be the best album ever, hip-hop and otherwise, and I'd still understand Nas having some sort of resentment towards it over the years.

Weird analogy, but I do MMA and Jiu-Jitsu. There was a great Jiu-Jitsu player in the 00's named Robert Drysdale. He got an upset and defeated the GOAT, Marcelo Garcia, at the biggest submission fighting tournament in history using a Darce choke in the finals. Even though it was the biggest win of Drysdale's career, he grew to resent that victory because people overlooked the dozens of other amazing victories he had and other prestigious titles that he won. So his biggest win became a gift and a curse.

It's the same thing with Nas and llmatic. It's his highest height, and even though I'm sure he appreciates the love, he's only human and I'm sure it gets old for it to be the thing most people always think about when it comes to him, forever.

Hip-Hop is Dead in 2006.. 13 years ago.
What has he started since?

I don't know. I havnt paid any attention to him since.

I see that youre moving the goal-post with this cut-off date tho, like his previous 15 years in the game(specifically the years that actually mattered) didn't exist.

I see what type of time youre on.

But yet here you are hating hard on Nas’ art & his opinion about his art for damn near 3 weeks after this being posted. That’s an awful lot of time spent on someone you claim you haven’t paid attention to since 2006.
