This battle is legitimately the greatest thing to ever happen to Nas (and his fans), while it was just a minor footnote in Jay’s career.

I doubt he even much distinguishes it from the other skirmishes he’s had with guys like Mase, Dipset, etc… 😅

I'm one of the many that think that it's odee talking about this battle but you must have not been there

Hov was literally the most haughty human being in rap from 98-2001 or so. His reaction proved this, I, like many hip hop fans including myself, didn't expect Ether to happen. Most nikkas wrote Nas off after Takeover breh lol

Jay’s Public Relations game is the best that we have ever seen from a rapper in the GOAT list. He has built his businessman image and campaigned for GOAT very deliberately. This is not up for debate nor is it very necessarily a bad thing because it worked in convincing the general public. It’s just corny to Dame, regardless of motivation, and I agree with him.

Take for example his Rock and Roll induction, he asked both Obama and Dave Chappelle to introduce him even though these are not music people nor is he that close with the. He just wanted to look important. It’s all image. Jay moves like a politician.

In all fairness to Jay, it wouldn’t be corny to Dame if he was still on the gravy train…

Nah the “Uh Oh” shyt was Super Ugly. Nas was clowning him for that. The other track was the “European Jay” track. Nas was clowning him for calling himself a European. That track has definitely been erased from history. I think it only got played a couple times but it was extremely wack and got pulled when they dropped Super Ugly.

Damn, haven't listened to Super Ugly in over 20 years, got it mixed up with the even weaker joint :mjlol:

All I can remember is the pink suit line and the Carmen shyt. You knew Jay was low on ammo when he was bringing up the (classic) Street Dreams video 5 years after the fact

My nikka, you agree with Dame because you’re a Nas stan. Dame doesn’t think any of that shyt is corny, he’s just bitter. You’re smart enough to know that. People have individuals outside of their fields induct them into ceremonies or introduce them all of the time. LeBron had Jay Z give the speech when he won sportsman of the year. Hov can’t even spin a basketball on his finger.

There’s absolutely no reason any rational man should ever take anything Damon Dash says seriously in 2023.

They did introduce him but how is that any different than LeBron having Jay Z give the speech when he won sportsman of the year? The problem with being a stan is you have to spend your whole life fighting imaginary battles and being cynical about everything.

There’s no one of stature Jay Z could credibly have induct him besides Diddy or LL.

Dame is right re: Super Ugly and wrong re: the rest of the stuff, especially going to all the events (since HE was the same person doing that throughout a good chunk of the 2000s)
