I don’t know what you guys are arguing about. I haven’t got 2k26 yet but I only play on HOF and 2k24 & 25 were green or miss

Not exactly. Rating could make you miss sometimes even on high risk

Game needs a 2 or 3 year dev cycle. With annual dlc for roster updates at the beginning of the nba season if the newest game is still in development

Every couple years I cave get it. Same game every year. The my career story was actually decent. After a couple days already regretting purchase. Literally every build can shoot the lights out this year. Feels impossible to play defense. No one should be shooting +70% from 3. I gave up Madden completely years ago. Need to do the same to 2k

I only play the quick play and I'm sinking 3 like it's nothing lol... lemme try my player and see if it's this easy.
So it’s actually easier to shoot this year? I actually liked 2k25, but one thing that frustrated me is the number of wide open shots I would miss with players who are ranked high in a specific category. I always use Kareem Abdul Jabbar as an example. On 2k24, doing a hook shot with Kareem was automatic in practice mode (as it should be considering he’s ranked a 99 in close and hook shots), so that green bar would make it impossible to miss unless you intentionally tried to. On 2k25, there was a different shooting meter, and even though I felt like I timed my shot the same every time, I would miss some, and it looked dumb seeing him miss a hook shot from 4ft away.

Obviously defense should play a factor in missing a shot, as well as someone taking a bad shot, but these are also NBA players. You give Michael Jordan a wide open midrange shot, he’s gonna hit 9 out of 10 times. From what I’ve been reading about 2k26 defense hasn’t been much of a factor.

One way I would mitigate this if I were a video game developer is have a separate rating for shooting off the dribble (or make it so that a badge enables ONLY certain players be adept at it). Once you get that part out the way, there needs to be a a better contest system where a good contest makes it a more difficult shot, but just because someone is standing there in the way, that shouldn’t count so much. You don’t want it to get to a point where you can’t make ANY contested shots, but a defender running in the wrong direction shouldn’t affect your shot either. Finally, I would say fatigue should affect shots more. If someone is doing a bunch of dribble moves, it should make the shot more difficult to make.

Another issue is something like free throws. Steph Curry has the highest FT percentage of all time and his FT rating is in the 90s. I rarely use GS but one game I picked them and I went to the line with Curry. I forgot how fast his FT motion was and I missed the first shot slightly late. Someone like him should have a very forgiving window. Meanwhile, a mediocre FT shooter like Giannis has that slow release and I’m able to perfectly time his FTs with no problem.

I popped in 2k21 last week and the shot system wasn’t even bad on there. Might’ve been a little too easy to make shots, but it kinda made sense. The meter different, but there was a clear window where you should take your shot and within that window was a line for your perfect release. If you took the shot anywhere within the window, you had a good chance of making the shot, but it wasn’t guaranteed unless you timed it on that line. Also on 2k21, there was an indicator which showed your hot and cold spots. I’m still unsure if this actually affects gameplay or if it ever did, but I know now, you don’t even see the hot spots unless you click on the player card or go in practice mode.
