Silver dropped the ball.

The young generation's time has come and the League hasn't been ready to promote it.

I don't care how much people love Steph and LeBron. They will not be winning another championship.

No matter how much you promote small markets they won't be breaking no records no time soon. The game was great tho but what curry and LeBron got to do with the ratings

Didn’t help that OKC were whoopin ass damn near the whole game. Mad people probably missed the comeback and Hali winning shot live. The two teams playing + blowout = lackluster ratings.

Silver inherited LeBron, and lucked into Curry, who became a superstar at the early stages of his tenure as commissioner.

He doesn't know how to market/promote the game.

The fact that he used the fukking Packers and Steelers, probably the two most storied franchises in NFL history, to make his argument about small markets being celebrated, shows that he is out of touch. He's awful.

This whole ratings argument is dumb and outdated now cause the 5 seconds clip of the game winning shot probably has 100million plus views by itself so when are they going to start factoring that in
But they don’t pay people all this money and buy all this equipment to put on a live production for people to click on a few second clip on YouTube. Ratings equal money.

NBA can promote a young superstar MVP who's leading a historic young team and a young Indiana team with their own budding superstar who are in the midst of a legendary run.

NBA can learn from how the NFL elevated Lamar and the Ravens / Josh and the Bills just to name two recent players who've ascended to superstar status the past few years.

Going back to NBC is a start, but they need more control over how the product is promoted especially over in ESPN.

How Malika, SAS, and Perk still being the main presenters for NBA games on that network is insane. Probably the worst team of all time doing big games. That team should be on ESPN 10 Deportes.

ESPN ass stat. "worst rating since four years" Do they expect every single year to have more viewers than the last one? Of course Curry and them at the end of their career pull more viewers.

NBA tv ratings discourse is so lame

The game was fun and that’s all that matters

Unless you’re an advertising executive or something otherwise shut the fukk up and focus on your stars who are in the middle of their offseason

It's an entertainment product.
In a sense, the NBA has a monopoly on this entertainment product, and it is their responsibility to be responsible stewards of one of the most popular games on the planet: basketball.
They're fukking up.
The public have a lot of options for how to engage with entertainment.
The NBA needs to read the room and plot a new course.
They will.
Many people like to engage with the hobby by watching how this process unfolds. Will it be through European expansion? Shortening the regular season? Changing the rules of the game to account for spamming the 3 point shot?
The internet is a big place, Sukdeep. If you don't like this particular conversation, go find something else to do.

Somebody said it in the first page, we have too many options. The NBA can become more popular but who watches TV or games live anymore?

Is it up to the NBA to create more hardcore fans? How do they go about doing that?

Football is popular because any and everybody plays in high school. To play basketball you have to be tall and skilled. Football may have 20M pop Warner and high school players who then become fans. Basketball maybe 1M.

It’s a number game that affects a dying type of entertainment.

NBA got its 75B ten year deal. Their next deal probably won’t be as big. Who cares? Enjoy the product the way you like. Numbers don’t matter. Imagine caring about a billion dollar company that shares 50% of its basketball related revenue with 450 players.
