Wait a minute. You think people are actually interested in the NBa in 2020s?
The only thing that has peaked interest in the nba in the 20s was the Luka trade.Interested in everything but actually sitting and watching games
Did the league do that or is that the way it shook out? They definitely rode the stars but those stars kept winning. We are actually in an interesting and unprecedented place where your biggest stars arent running shyt or at least in the running. So you have your huge draws on one side and your best teams on the other. And its exposing how much more of a draw stars have been.there's not enough star power in the league. Why everyone runs from this reality is crazy. Those days might be over because the league is incapable of producing even a Caitlin Clark-esque figure.
To make it worse, there's a GENERATIONAL superstar in the draft every year, which cheapens the word.
The NBA is witnessing the carnage they set up by convincing basketball fans that only 5-6 teams are worth your time. Now, it works internationally, but internationally, whether it's soccer or basketball, only a handful of teams are worth your time too, so they're used to that. We tend to tune shyt out when our team is out.
None of these youngins aee appealing to y'all now that y'all know so much about them.
Man speak for yourself. The “ohhhh girl”Did the league do that or is that the way it shook out? They definitely rode the stars but those stars kept winning. Now if you wanna talk about what the league did to themselves...with the expanded playoffs and the caps, maxes, and aprons and the zone they have limited the impact of individual stars and made it more about over team and team construction and team play...and dont nobody (average, casual fan) wanna see that![]()
There were people who said it doesn't? LeBron on the Cavs is one example of market size not mattering but in many cases it does matter.
Spurs were masters at dragging any series they were in to the ground regardless of who was on the other side because that team took on the personality of Duncan who had no interest in any of this. There's hating a team enough to invest time in watching hoping they lose and hating a team to where you'll find something else to do. The Spurs were the latter.
CAVS VS SPURS
IS THE LOWEST RATED FINALS
OF ALL TIME.
2 SMALL MARKETS
Caitlin Clark can't even play for the Fever right now. She has no bearing on what's going on with this series.1) Two smaller market teams - and not enough casual sports fans are familiar with the players on both teams. SGA, Chet, Haliburton, Siakam, etc just aren’t household names yet. Hali has the best shot, especially if they co-market him with Caitlyn
2) The athletic, frenetic style with a lot of missed shots and turnovers is just not an appealing style of basketball to watch IMO
3) I went to bed in the middle of the game assuming OKC would win. Woke up to a Pacers win. I will be paying closer attention now. But I think 8:30 is a bit late. Make it 8 or 7:30.

Now yes, neither team has a large stanbase (which hurts any league that ain't the NFL) since when those fans stop watching they're not as invested in the rest of the playoffs. However, the way to cultivate that is by being in these series and perhaps being good enough to make it back, which both teams are capable of doing for different reasons. Those fans who only root for players gotta go somewhere after the LeBron's, KD',s Kyries, and Stephs go away. All we kinda know is that if Flagg is the real deal, white people might stand behind him. Everyone else, consider the next 3-4 years an audition for those fans.

Peak Heat was super polarizing. You had a strong emotion either way, to the point where if you hated the Heat, the Spurs winning was welcome. The Kobe/Shaq Lakers were that way too. Those early Cavs teams were just LeBron and little else.
NAH THOSE SPURS/HEAT FINALS
DID NUMBERS...
LAKERS/SPURS USED TO DO NUMBERS TOO
