for all you super nervous people, I'm pretty sure that the refs will not be making these judgments, but they'll be handed down after the games. That's the only way for this to work.

of course im sure your post was ignored

its very clear to tell who was flopping after seeing a video review afterwards.

What about throwing hands in the air to get a shooting foul. Battier is right, I can't even remember the last time I have seen a charge call w/out the player falling to the ground.

Not all flops are completely flops. Some players flop to get a call cause they are getting fouled but the ref aint calling it cause the guy ain't falling or being pushed 5 feet.

Well do these refs watch any film of the players they officiate?

Studying players would seem to help them better ref a flopping player.
Ex. He usually flops in the lane, when he flops this or that happens.

Screw this new flopping rule. They're getting softer and softer, it ain't like in the 80s and 90s, when a guy got dunked on, received a staredown, maybe even a shoulder bump and and the game continues, everybody's happy. Now after a block or a poster, guy looks in the different direction than his own basket, he get a T. That's just bull!
this is how it should be done

:whoo:
and it's no disrespect, that's the game talkin'
players should be allowed to bang more, yeah I said it, bang more...
not only I said it as a matter of fact :lolbron:

It's a stupid rule, the league is just copping out making the players the scapegoat for their own inefficiency. Let's see how many times they go back and penalize guys who flop while legitimately being fouled. This rule is waaay too subjective.

C/S.

Would rather just have them ease up on the foul calling and allow more physical play and bumps. Flopping is just the natural evolution of a players gamesmanship in response to the increased babying by the refs of anyone on the receiving end of a physical encounter.

the only thing that'll change with this new rule is the players wouldn't be as over the top with their exaggerations. they'll better their acting and then raise hell over how subjective/unfair the league is if they do end up getting fined later for simply "showing a natural human reaction to being hit with physical force" or whatever.

I was hoping someone would write this.

So, they're telling players that they can't body up on anybody, but then they tell them that they can't use theatrics either, because certain fouls abide by asinine idioms like "gotta go to the floor." Yet they know good and well if they actually went to the floor, then that'd get them a tech. Just ridiculous.

If they're not going to relax on calling physicality, then there's no reason for this rule to exist; it's going to create are more uncalled fouls, fined semi-flops, unfined flops and bytching. Oh, and more offensive ballet. I promise that it'll be a bigger mess than it was before, I just can't see it being any different.

"It's good. Guys can't be flopping and get away with it anymore," Oklahoma City guard James Harden said. "It was bound to happen at some point. Obviously, the league got fed up with it and they put it in. I'm happy they did."
