If he did he wouldn't be picked "to go". @Colgatebrah described how young dudes pretty much feel about his music vs Drake or Cole.
If the question was “who’s the best rapper out of Kendrick, drake, and j.cole?” I think 90% of nikkas my age would without a doubt say Kendrick.

But when the question becomes “who would you rather listen to?” He’s coming in dead last every single time.

I’d rather have the ride or middle child playing in my car or when I’m just trying to chill.

:unimpressed:

"BP" came out a year and a half ago. February 2018. It's August 2019 man.

Kendrick ain't dropped a real album in 2+ years.

Cole just dropped "KOD" last year. "Revenge Of The Dreamers III" a month ago.

Drake dropped "Scorpion" last year and 2 new songs like 2 months ago.

I realize you partially made this thread to rile up K Dot stans....but to sit here and act like the other two consistently dropping music has nothing to do with the topic at hand....is silly.

Fred.
It really doesn’t do you really think these players are judging solely off recent output? You’re talking about the three most prolific artists of this era they’re taking everything into account.

Breh nobody forgot about Kendrick

The Black Panther soundtrack came out just last year he has done several of his trash features in the last year. Mans was on Power season 5.

Cole up until recently wasn’t very visible himself. You could have done this shyt in the middle of a Kendrick album roll out, and Kendrick is still getting picked.

You’re talking about the three leaders of the 2010’s with deep catalogs that stretch a decade ain’t nobody forget Kendrick.

Forgot is a stretch for sure, but I agree that visibility plays a huge part. In this climate especially, if you’re not right in front of these kids, they tend to look past you.

In every aspect of life, not just music.. look at Kawhi Leonard.. people calling him the best in the game today didn’t even have him in their top 5 a year ago. Why? Because he took a season off..

He didn’t suddenly drastically improve. His numbers from 2016 and last year are literally identical. He’s always been that. But when it’s not right in front of your face, you tend to overlook it..

Drake and Cole are everywhere right now. Putting out music, features, videos, etc. all over the charts.. Kendrick is low. Not visible at all. Ask this question when Kendrick has a single ringing off and an album rolling out, I guarantee the answers will be different. This new generation is fickle bro.. everything moves fast

Kawhi did drastically improve year after year though :dwillhuh:

I feel like even when Kendrick is in album mode the masses prefer Drake and Cole.

Drake is a given but even Cole has a grip and connection with this generation that Kendrick just doesn’t have. :hubie:

Also stop shaming guys born in 2000 and 2001 for not knowing about OutKast

That’s crazy to me tho, cuz I was born in 2000 and I’ve heard B.O.B, So Fresh, So Clean, The Way You Move, Hey Ya, Ms. Jackson, Roses millions of times growing up, not to mention Int’l Players Anthem

Maybe it’s a cultural thing and how you grew up idk but Kast had their biggest songs in the 2000s

Yeah when nikkas was talking about they didn’t know who OutKast was wild.

I can understand not knowing aquemini, ATliens, or southernplayawhateverthefukkmuzik but not know those songs you listed is wild.

In my mind they probably know those songs but never associated them with OutKast, only way to justify it.

This is not surprising considering what label Kendrick is on and how they put out music. Someone needs to forward this to top dawg because this 2 year plus hiatus bullshyt is killing their artist visibility.

There was not a big jump in Kawhi’s talent from 2016 to 2018

:gucci:

Numbers are literally identical. He was a finals MVP, All Star and NBA champion before he got to Toronto..

What happened was that year in between where he only played 9 games and demanded a trade..

In turn, his name floundered and people legitimately forgot how good he was until they were reminded. I agree with a lot of what you’re saying, but if you genuinely don’t think visibility plays a huge part in perception, you outta your mind lol

He also had the system player narrative floating around and that season was the first year he really put up numbers like that bumping his scoring to 25 per game. Kawhi gradually increased by the year when he won Finals MVP he wasn’t the undisputed leader of the Spurs. That’s all I’m saying.

The age thing is an excuse because those young dudes know who biggie is. I love OutKast but this is where the value of hits come in. Biggie music still being played to this day at parties, clubs not so much Outkast.

Cole strategically collabing with all these young rappers been helping him tbh

Coli acting like Drake ain’t been the favorite rapper picked the most in the NBA year in and year out. It’s not just rookies, it’s the majority of the league. But y’all gotta ring off those groupie jokes I guess smh

Yea but BIG has some of the most noticeable Hip-Hop songs and everyone knows who BIG is along with Pac, so that helps

Everyone knows at least 1 song by him

I don’t think there’s THAT many Hip-Hop songs that transcend all cultures in America, you got stuff like Big Poppa, In Da Club and songs like that but it ain’t that many
