But why does it have to be either or, why can’t there be a balance? Humor & good to great analysis can coexist.

Like when NFL Gameday was at its peak with Eisen, Irvin, Deion, Mooch, etc. or even the version with Deion, Shannon, LT and the goofy white guy their show was fun to watch but also they knew what they were talking about.

It’s been said on multiple occasions that sometimes Chuck doesn’t even watch the games they’re covering. He’ll go in the green room and watch NCIS or some other show.
Lmfaoooo NBA is doomed

Nerds stay crying. This is what season of the show? You listen to Barkley and expect him to speak eloquently about analytics? You expect Kenny not to co-sign everything yet disagree with everything? Turn on the Lowe podcast and stfu

I feel like that’s an extreme. I don’t think anybody’s asking or expecting them to have a dedicated segment to breaking down why the Cavs have a top 5 defense right now.

I don’t think wanting the people on the biggest NBA-centric show to know how to pronounce a superstar’s name or to know who good players are that aren’t household names is asking too much :skip:

The show is entertaining regardless but I don’t think the critiques are all that unreasonable

Name thing is part of the jokes and highly relatable if you hang around mid aged black men
I had no idea who Christian Wood was until last year when he started being talked about for the most part
The show is marketed to casuals and is supposed to be relatable and funny. If you want a show where they talk about the 10th man on the Kings or know what city Deni Avdija from it's cac shows that specialize in that like dunc'd on :yeshrug:
you're not a HOF NBA player paid to do analysis either :yeshrug:

Nobody watches that shyt for ESPN level analytics we watch it because them nikkas is funny. Get off their dikk:stopitslime:
so knowing niccas names or of their mere presence is ESPN-level analysis? :mjlol:

I sort of get what the writer was saying but this has been Shaq and Chucks style for years

When an analyst is critiquing someone they typically say it’s just a part of the job as an analyst. At the same time, especially while speaking on that person, getting the players name right should be a part of their job too.

Agreed. I like them, but I don't expect expert analysis from them. It's a shame NBA TV is barely on air. They do have some personalities like Steve Smith and Isiah Thomas who are really plugged into the game and even have knowledge about high school/college ball players, but they're just not funny or charismatic like Shaq or Chuck.

Lots of people get their general info from shows like this. Even people’s political opinions come from soft show like the view or late night shows.

So I think some type of decent dialogue is necessary to give “casuals” more knowledge of the game. It doesn’t have to be droning with stats and analysis but a reasonable balance.

For those of you old enough to remember this, rings became the end all be all argument started with these guys. Just laziness. People where afraid to correctly judge players so they they just went by stats ;better players/most points avg. best point guard/most assists averaged. Better legend/most rings.

if some of these guys would have been willing to hurt someone’s feelings. Basically by putting player A over player B even though player B had more attractive stats. Then we wouldn’t have to sift through clowns who don’t know about the game or context and only use rings and point totals as arguments.

Ill never forget it was some time in the mid 2000s and someone was interviewing Richard Jefferson. They asked him who was better, Kobe or T-Mac. RJ essentially said, ima go with who ever has the most points per game. They had to tell him who averaged more just for him to choose.

I agree but all I’m saying in this thread you don’t have to be an expert to know how to say Jokic or to know who Christian Wood is. Nobody asking them to do a PowerPoint presentation on the sets the Mavs run:russ:
