Bout to be done with my generals and prereqs of math. I basically can choose any major for my bachelors but I am torn on which to choose. I know id rather get a bs vs a ba, but im really interested in bba logistics.

i currently work as a mental health specialist iii and i just cleared over 62 grand last year. im comfortable with my job and my benefits are the shyt. but i feel like my opportunities at this position are maxed out.

i love my job but i want more and thats why i enrolled in college. i have a lot of experience in behavioral health, should i use what ive gained to possibly seek a degree in that aspect? i really would love to get into logistics but i sure as hell dont want to start from the bottom. i just turned 31 brehz. im trynna get dem 6 figures

If you're going to switch careers...I would go ahead and do it. It'll get tougher the older you get.

Why do you feel the opportunities have maxed out. Have you considered relocating? Maybe there is something better somewhere else.

i have been considering relocating, but i won't get the same salary anywhere else than what im currently making unless i get a government job. and also because of schooling where transferring somewhere else out of state would be more expensive unless i waited to fulfill residency to pay in state tuition. i would love to get a bs in psychology or sociology which greatly benefit my experience, but in order to get dem six figure salary positions, id have to get at least a masters. i don't mind, but it took me 3 years to get my associates as i worked full time and went to school part time. getting a bs in psychology or sociologt and then a masters in social work will probably be at least 5 more years of schooling part time. idk

my job is perfect for me. i make a pretty decent salary, my hours are great - work 3pm - 11:pm - in which i have time to take classes in the morning, and benefits is fukking awesome. i have been thinking about trying something different such as logistics and supply chain management bba as working for a distribution could be something worthwhile.

You have options. but I would probably major in nursing. I know someone who is a registered nurse at a behavorial hospital.. Then one of my neighbors was a microbiology major but he got his master's in social work and he works in mental health. I say nursing because it's so many options you can have and you will ALWAYS have a job.

Waiting list? That's crazy. Can you apply to another school or talk to someone in the higher ups to get you in? I think that's your best bet cause it guarantees you a job.

think about the long game though. you may need a Master's to perform and clinical work in Psychology but you can easily do that job until you are old as fukk. minimal wear and tear on your body and relatively low stress(compared to Business, etc.)

I got a BA in Psych and going to look in to Grad school. I'm currently working full time (not in Psych) I'm just working on this career change now, and I like how I could continue in that field until I'm damn well 70 if I wanted.

Nursing has gotten extremely saturated and competitive, many schools are enforcing stricter standards to matriculate into nursing program s and have raised their GPA req. Hospitals also are raising the bar and requesting more experienc and don't even look at 2 year Rns, they only hiring Bachelor's RNs

What would you suggest in place of nursing school?

My niece is thinking about going for physician assistant. Is that saturated as well? Would a Nurse Practitioner have a better long term outlook?

be careful that you don't go into logistics only to find out the job market is devastated from automation. behavioral/mental health is highly specialized - those are the types of jobs that are more resistant to economic (recession) and technological (automation) forces. also, never underestimate the extent to which doing what you actually ENJOY affects your future success.

congrats

Nursing is still a great job, with lots of demand. you may have to move to get the best jobs but there are always jobs to go around.

get the RN first then go for the Nurse Practitioner after you have some experience in nursing.
you will need to get a Master's for that but it will be well worth it.
