great history, but not the #1 "out of nowhere" story IMO

1. DMX
1a. Hot Boyz

they werent out of nowhere like that.

plus dmx was established by the time his album dropped.

the hot boys were established in the south. as for nationally, they piggy-backed off no limit.

:ooh:and we're not going to see anything like it anytime soon.

my man came out of nowhere with a monster hit, debuted at #1 selling way more than anybody expected him to sell. universal didnt even intend for him to sell like that. people forget that his promotion wasnt all that until AFTER he moved crazy units.

then he just kept hitting us over the head with monster hits back-to-back-to-back-to-back and quickly became the highest selling black artist.

Country Grammar :wow:

Then

E.I. :wow:

Then

Ride Wit Me :wow:

I used to get hella bytches at the skating rink with Nelly playing in the background.....thank you Cornelius :wow:

Probably one of the last times we'll hear a new Regional rap artist come out....that new St. Louis style was refreshing :noah: It's always dope to hear a new nikka tell his story in a fresh way :noah:

You had Miami/Florida have their run a few years later and they bought they sound, so that was cool and Houston had they run around the same time but, outside of that, you don't see it too much anymore. Nowadays everybody rap the same. Chicago drill rap is basically trap rap. I would've appreciated if Wale and Logic incorporated more Go-Go into their music to give it more of a Washington, DC sound but, instead they just rap over Trap and New York boom bap beats

Damn...how'd I fail to mention him slaying KRS...one of the greatest moments in "corny 'real hip hop son' types meeting their comeuppance" history...I might even mark that moment as the one where they were forever made irrelevant and marginalized to their whiny roles on messegeboards the world over

He did not slay krs one only on the this site I hear nonsense like that
