Traces back to home pride. NJ is stacked with good athlete'. If they stayed home and went to The State University - Rutgers would be really good at every sport. But it's tradition here - to wanna go rep someone elses home. New Jersey has to be the only state stacked with athlete's - but never has a good college team

In addition, the college sports teams suck.
Most if not all of the top pre athletes leave the state to play college sports.

NJ
Most of North Jersey roots for NYC
Most of South Jersey roots for Philly

When you consider the Nets became an NBA team in 1977 and the Knicks have been around since the 1940s, it's easy to understand why there are so many NY fans

In hockey, the Devils moved to NJ in 1982 and the NY Rangers are one of the original 8 teams, since 1940...again it's easy to understand why there are so many NY fans

Makes sense which is why all the Brooklyn folks born while the nets played in jersey are still Knicks fans

That’s funny too. I always wondered why they didn’t make room for the Giants and Jets to play in Long Island or Westchester County!

They actually proposed to build one in west manhattan. NYC flat out voted against it. The city didnt want to pay for it and they didnt want to deal with the extra traffic. And Long island is way too far away and would alienate the NJ fanbase

East rutherford NJ is actually closer to NYC than a lot of other stadiums are to their respective towns (10 mi)

True and it was Bloomberg idea for the manhattan idea right?

Yea don’t think Manhattan has space for another stadium.

NJ got a lot of black immigrants that stopped in NY for a while then went there. nikkas from Haiti, Trinidad, Jamaica, Ghana, Guyana, Panama. Italians,Greeks, Russians from Brighton Beach move to Staten Island, then to Jersey. I don't see a problem. NJ in between two of the top 5 biggest cities in the country. North Jersey got a city called West New York. NJ and NY are tied at the hip. Nowadays Jersey hoods way harder than NYC hood I'm embarassed how soft Brooklyn is right now except for Brownsville.

North Jersey is New York's bytch.

Both pro football teams play in New Jersey.
The Statue of Liberty is technically in New Jersey
Most New York pro athletes live in New Jersey
The debo'ed the Nets from New Jersey, even though the Knicks will always own New York City.

In addition, the college sports teams suck.
Most if not all of the top pre athletes leave the state to play college sports.

NY is the one who gets bytched. All the revenue is going to NJ. New yorkers go buy gas, cars, and clothes in NJ. NJ be eating off New Yorkers everything expensive as fukk here.

When Rutgers lost to Michgan 78-0 in 2016, they had a lot of their top recruits attend... :dead:

This sums up their opinion of Rutgers football

I live in south jersey and was a Nets fan, and still am, but most were sixers fans. North Jersey I can't really say, prob more Nets fans up there but wouldn't be surprised if most were Knicks fans.

One of the best games I ever saw live was Nets-Heat in the playoffs, Nets lost, but Vince Carter hit a buzzer beater near the end of regulation or the first OT, and the ball was bouncin on the rim and the place went from dead ass quiet to EXPLODING when it went in.

Don't Believe the Hype
I was born, grew up, and lived in Jersey for almost 30 years before moving out west. As a kid, I only knew like two legit Nets fans - one of whom, actually switched allegiances to the Knicks when NJ moved to BK.

I grew up in the 90s and was a HUGE Knicks fan. Thing is, via Public Transportation, it was actually easier to just take the train to Penn Station to see the Knicks play in the Garden then schlep out to the Meadowlands.

It was kinda cool when the Devils, Nets, and Seton Hall played at Prudential Center, just blocks from Newark Penn.

This has already been stated, but I'll reiterate to further strengthen the point: basically NJ is a suburb like 85% of the state is within an hour of either Philly or NYC.

Lol you ain't lying. I'm from Bushwick Brooklyn and I went with my man to NJ to check his cousin and hang out. I think we was in one of the Oranges. Since he said he was gonna be quick, I said I would just stay in the car. He was like :usure: and I'm like "niigga I'm from the projects, I'm straight" he was like :hubie:and went on inside. The area was hood but didn't seem extremely so.. . Then I started seeing some activity that made me realize how foolish I was . I got in the house with the quickness lol
