Nothing beats streaming a game with max settings on my steam deck. Hopefully this keeps pushing the premium portable further.

My xbox and PS5 be collecting dust. Xbox play anywhere + Steam is what i use to game now. The playstation exclusives i just play on the P5 when i have to.

What made you return it?

The behind the scenes video and the linus video someone posted goes into detail. It's essentially just something that handheld gamers have been asking for, especially when it comes to Game Pass.

It removes the desktop and certain PC functions that are standard to Windows 11 but not necessarily needed to play games on other handhelds. So in concept you get more memory and battery life and an integrated game menu for each launcher to get straight to the games. Kind of something that seems minor but no other handheld has managed to do this (for multiple launchers) and so people complain about the power draw of Windows 11 standard UI as well as having to side load.

I see. Windows 11 is kinda annoying when im only trying to game with my allyx.

Definitely need to see if it actually amounts to anything. This has been like the 3rd or 4th time M$ said that they optimized windows for gaming. It all amounts to nothing.

I do hope if this is fantastic. It can make it's way to Desktop as a function.

Only interesting thing about this is the new windows UI. I'll mod it onto my existing Ally if it's worth it but honestly Armory crate does everything i need it to do.

All the complaints I had about my Ally has been fixed within the first year it was out. Only people i see complaining about it now are people who don't know how to use Windows. Said it before and i'll say it again. My Ally has been the best tech purchase i ever made.

Those grips are ugly as hell but they might be comfortable.
I agree. Armory Crate gets undo shyt heaped on it. Every time I see comments about "windows based handhelds" the first thing I see is muhfukkas complaining about constant updates. As if they are playing COD and in the middle of a killstreak or something they are being forced to reboot. The shyt is just completely false. I'm not arguing that the Windows handheld experience couldn't be better, but it's shortcomings are WAY overblown.

I can't wait to see what the MS team does with the new.....interface? OS? Whatever it is that optimizes things for handhelds. And that new Ally is ugly as hell but I bet it feels amazing in the hand. I'd cop it at 1000 or less. I mean most cell phones now are 800 to 1000. So something like that seems right at that price point.

No need to be an a$$hole. The PS thing didn't let you do that. That's why I didn't get one. I liked my Switch. But I wanted to play bigger games on a brand I trust. Just asked a question.

You’re right. My mistake.

The Switch is mainly for kids. Honestly, it was a waste of bread for me. These PC handhelds (like Ally, Steam, Legion, etc.) let you do so much more in a portable format. Ally X is way better than a dam Switch 2. Sure, it costs more, but it gives you way more value for your money.

When it comes to games, Xbox Play Anywhere/PC Game Pass and Steam are all you really need. I can enjoy most titles with great quality right in my hands. With Xbox Play Anywhere, I can play Xbox games at home and then seamlessly continue from where I left off on my Ally X when I'm outside of the crib (cloud save). It doesnt require an internet connection to play but thats if you want to access your saved file from home. Steam also doesnt require internet. The games are already downloaded to your device.

I like the grips. Xbox gamepads are goated. I don't play my Xbox Series X anymore so why should I get this?

Wonder how much the price is going to cost since they raised their consoles, and now they are allied with Asus Rog. These prices will be crazy.

It's missing the OLED display, that would make it premium handheld gaming. But obviously that'd drive the price through the roof.

Sony had the right idea with the Portal hardware and how it interfaces with existing consoles. Anxious to see performance tests of this hardware.

The problem with the Portal is you need a good internet connection. I've been to enough hotels where i don't trust that and I doubt airplanes have good enough wifi.

My mind is set on the Steam Deck oled, I'd have access to PC games and ps5 games.

That's a handheld gaming issue in general, since the true evolution of it to stream your gaming.
