That's a handheld gaming issue in general, since the true evolution of it to stream your gaming.
I think you clearly missed the term "evolution". I own a Steam Deck and a Switch 1, I'm familiar with them. The biggest limitations to both, are storage despite having access to expandable storage. No it's not. You can play offline with the Steam Deck. You can also play offline with the Switch. Nintendo handheld consoles didn't need to stream.
If anything happens to turn off your ps5 while you're away your portal is a paper weight.
The portal looks like a well built device and including the haptic feedback is clutch, but I wouldn't spend the money on it knowing I was going to be in hotels, long flights, or on the road.
I agree. Armory Crate gets undo shyt heaped on it. Every time I see comments about "windows based handhelds" the first thing I see is muhfukkas complaining about constant updates. As if they are playing COD and in the middle of a killstreak or something they are being forced to reboot. The shyt is just completely false. I'm not arguing that the Windows handheld experience couldn't be better, but it's shortcomings are WAY overblown.
I can't wait to see what the MS team does with the new.....interface? OS? Whatever it is that optimizes things for handhelds. And that new Ally is ugly as hell but I bet it feels amazing in the hand. I'd cop it at 1000 or less. I mean most cell phones now are 800 to 1000. So something like that seems right at that price point.

Depends on which ecosystem you lean towards.Question for the knowledgeable folks.....
Which of these handhelds should I get:
Ally
Ally X
Xbox versions of Ally/Ally X
Steam Deck
Other
I got PS5 and Series X, PS+ and GamePass.
I'd mostly play these either at home or maybe at a hotel/Air BnB when traveling. Which one allows me to play big time AAA games with strong graphics, performance etc?
Thought about a gaming PC but not really interested in going that route.

Absolutely wild thats how the portal works. What a waste of money.
aint gon lie i bought my rog ally x with some hesitation but yeah this thing is the goat.Only interesting thing about this is the new windows UI. I'll mod it onto my existing Ally if it's worth it but honestly Armory crate does everything i need it to do.
All the complaints I had about my Ally has been fixed within the first year it was out. Only people i see complaining about it now are people who don't know how to use Windows. Said it before and i'll say it again. My Ally has been the best tech purchase i ever made.
Those grips are ugly as hell but they might be comfortable.

I always forget about this part. That's one of the major drawbacks with the deck. It's not the best for MP gamesKeep in mind the OS differences when buying a handheld PC.
You'll be able to play shyt like Warzone and other big multiplayer experiences on the ROG Ally systems or Lenovo Go systems because they're based on Windows, but only a limited selection on the Steam Deck because of the Linux based SteamOS not cooperating well with most anti-cheat software. If you only play single-player and indie games, then this doesn't matter as much.
You can get remote play, multiple launchers, emulation, and Game Pass working on all handheld PCs. So there's no point in a dedicated Remote Play device.
With all that said, its best to go with the strongest hardware.

At nowhere near the same experience. You can sh*t on the Portal all you want but you can't tootsie slide over the fact that it's good at what it was designed to do at a fraction of the cost of any other handheld.Literally paying to do the same shyt you can do with your phone for the last 10 years.
