The op is correct, but I see some non conscious people just marginalizing him as some bitter jealous dude. The fact is we shouldn't have to strive for white approval like that. it's a shame we don't have our own land with our own way of doing things, so we don't suffer the effects of living in theirs. Even going back to Africa isn't an option, because they look at black people with contempt as well, although they gave us up to massa and wrote us off like a bad check all those years ago.

I hope slave movies continue to be made. I hope dozens are in the works and are continued to be released and get plenty of mainstream recognition. I hope the future generations continue to watch these movies showing the treatment of black people in this country and are never allowed to forget and dismiss what they went through and how far we've come on this county. I hope all you negative nancies continue to seethe because you're tired of their stories being told as though they are no longer significant.

I understand that it's time for other stories to be told and get similar attention as well but fukk anyone saying these movies should go away.

and what is that supposed to accomplish? ..if another slave movie is never made about that period in AA's struggle our bondage in Amerikkka will never be forgotten cause that(and Civil Rights) are all we are taught about our history. These films add nothing to the advancement or enlightment of AAs and are obviously made by the cacs in honkeywood to reminisce about their domination of our ancestors and remind us of our place in this country..nikkas whom think movies highlighting our lowest/weakest period being rewarded/promoted by the mainstream are black achievement we should be proud of suffer from post dramatic slave syndrome.

I love these threads... more cacs and c00ns are being exposed :banderas:

Let's not stop at the slave movies... we need more butlers, maids, precious and blind sides too. We should petition for another movie and call it The Mammy :troll:

Exactly, these c00ns want more slave, maid movies rather than an African epic on Ancient Songhai or Ancient Ghana?

Bu bu but it's good for race relations. :camby:

I wouldn't be suprised if an actual movie called "The Bedwench" came out and these c00ns will soak that shyt up too.

Oh wait, there is a tv show called Scandal. :troll:

Starring Gabby Sidibe and bringing back Hattie McDaniel via a Tupac-like Hologram. :lolbron:

Just because you're ashamed of your history doesn't mean I will be.

Yall could talk all of that disparaging shyt that you want about the accomplishment of Ms. N'Yongo however, although her role is one of a slave, she performed superbly in a film about the savagery of early American whites.

Direct your negative attention on Kerry Washington's role on Scandal if she ever wins an emmy...because honestly, a role where a Black woman is portrayed as an accomplished, intelligent, articulate and powerful woman.....who is a side piece of a President is absolutely classless compared to N'yongo's role of a slave(against her will) who would rather die and be whipped than willingly allow herself to lick a slave master's boot.

Hopefully 50 years from now, most entertainers who REALLY do perpetuate every stereotype of blacks known to man (thug, untrustrworthy & violent) will be looked at in shame and not a woman who apparently has few "western influenced" self esteem issues playing a role of something that is apart of Black American History.
