Ideally you don't want the defense to know what's coming. But knowing and stopping it are two different things, just look at the tush push. I think the majority of the time I'd still run the play.

Pass plays would be a little different though.

It's situational.

At the professional level if an offensive play is executed correctly it will succeed if you have a talent or physical advantage at that position, or if you understand that the defense is not equipped to handle the play your running (formation, personnel, etc.)

In this case not only did the Eagles call out the play but their defensive line completely outmatched their offensive line and overwhelmed them, if they've been doing that all game (I actually missed this game and didn't see it) then yes, that playcall should've been audible'd out.

He recognized the formation and made sure his boys knew too. Sometimes, you can STILL run the play called and it’s not an issue…other times, it’s dead in the water, this was one of those “dead in the water” times

This was poor priming from a coaching perspective as the defense correctly announcing your upcoming play aint unheard of

At the least the QB coulda threw out some fake adjustment calls maybe even a superficial shift to suggest the play changed... they had the time

And the rb shouldn't have been left in a position to unilaterally abort the play... these scenarios should have been covered in advanced

They definitely gonna review this one. This was a coaching fukk up

we seen Romo call out a whole drive in that Patriots-Chiefs AFCCG. I'm sure guys on the field knew what was coming but just couldn't stop it.
