anybody remember when they re-structuring the divisions and they were planning on extending the playoffs to 16 teams?

what yall think of that?

i know jerry jones is all for it.

nobody said that san fran is "so much tougher". but they had a superior season.

this is the nfl dog. anybody can get beat on any given sunday. and the playoffs are sudden death. theres really no room for errors such as this brain-dead playoff format.
San Fran already beat GB too, why do it again.

If Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had his way, more than 12 teams would be in the postseason right now.

Jones was asked on 105.3 The Fan (via ESPN.com) whether he would support expanding the playoffs from six teams per conference to eight teams per conference, and he said he likes that idea because it would allow more teams to enter the playoffs and give more fan bases a reason to get excited about the NFL in January.

“From the standpoint of looking at how exciting it is for a city or a community to be involved in the playoffs and the fact that you can have a team that might have literally operated at .500 or in that area . . . you can have that team win the Super Bowl,” Jones said. “That makes a big case for adding a couple of more cities or communities that have NFL teams to the playoffs. It just creates that much more excitement and that much more interest for people in those communities. So I fall on the side of the ledger that would increase the playoffs.”

I might just go straight conferences

Maybe no interconference?

3 games against your division?
Face everyone else in the conference once -12 games.

That's 16. And match by place for 2 games. That get's up to 18.

I never done this before, forgive me if it's stupid.

If you play everybody in your conference, that's 15 games, not 16. And if you play everybody in conference one, why bother having divisions? And what do you mean by "match by place for two games"?

The problem with no inter conference play is that your stars may never face each other if they're in different conferences. And certain guys would never play in historic venues. That's a major complaint about the current system. Peyton and Brady only play in Lambeau once every 8 years!

That's why I'd really like to make inter conference play determined by where you place in your division. It would worsen the venue issue, but we'd get more Luck-Cam games :gladbron:

Greenbay won their division, they were not giving it

the format works fine

if you had it your way, the season would've been settled weeks ago and all the other games would've been meaningless
this is a better system and more exiting, because its a MARATHON not a race
a team dead in a water at the beginning can still have life thats the makes it great for fans

the giants were 9-7 and won the super bowl, so were the packers with rogers
the cardinals were 9-7 and made it too the superbowl, nobody were complaining then

nobody complained when the 11-5 patriots didn't make it, get this bullshyt outta here

And what's wrong with that? Don't you have how many months off season to make sure your team is good, right?

You must have missed this post:

your a fukking moron, I already explained what i was talking about

The fact is Green Bay won their division San Fran didn't

you obviously never competed any type of tournament format in your life and don't understand how it works
and how the best is always the winning of the touranment, because they won the tournament

Green Bay was 9-7 the last time they won the super bowl
so you tell me the teams with the better Records were better than them that year
shut the fukk up

are we going to pretend theres no teams you could consider a sham who have great records because they beat up on weak teams all year:mjpls:...id rather them do strength of schedule at the end of the year and decide who faces who....what gives another sham team the right to host a playoff game:patrice:..a great team will win in the end,the best team doesn't always win at any level of sports, but you cant just luck your way into championships in the big leagues:youngsabo:

No it wouldn't :heh:

GB/Chi and DAL/Phi was for the division. The games would still be meaningful.

Nobody Complaining about Pats because two wild card teams had better records and tiebreakers.

Division Winners should be only rewarded by getting in the playoffs.

GB was actually 10-6 that year.
And your quote spoke for itself.

folks wanna say these teams shouldnt have to go on the road
okay, but i ask, if you team is as good as you say it is shouldnt you be able to go into someone else place and beat them?

yes homefield matters in some places, but thats why you play 16 games and you win your division, you get the homefield
