I’d hope so. They had the third easiest SoS headed into the season.

This isn't college football. I don't think SoS means as much in the NFL, as we saw teams like the Browns beat the Packers, and the Giants beat the Eagles recently.

They have certainly not had the toughest schedule on paper, but they are putting their foot on the necks of some of these poor teams. We see it quite often where very good teams have let down games against the bottom feeder teams, but since the Steelers loss, the Patriots have convincingly beaten their opponents for the most part.

I'm not saying they would be in the same position if they played the Chiefs, Broncos, and Colts in place of some of the teams they've beaten, but they have not had those let downs.

Matthew Stafford is the still front runner for MVP IMO

While on bye he's...

1st Passing TDs (17)
6th Passing Yards (1866...was 1st before he went on bye, all QBs ahead of him haven't had their bye yet)
2nd Lowest Ints (2)
6th QB Rating
2nd Passing Yard per Game

can't convince me to put another QB ahead of him right now:manny:

If the award were to be voted on today, I can see the argument for him being first. If we're projecting out the remainder of the season, I don't have think he wins it.

Right now, I'd say IF the season were to end today, it would be between Stafford/Jones/Taylor/Goff/Maye. I think Jones and Taylor would split some votes.

For the rest of the season, I'm going to say it's Mahomes because I think that Chiefs offense is about to really turn it on. I won't talk about Maye too much because I'm sure people will say there's bias. However, IF Maye and the Patriots continue to play well, I think he has a legitimate chance as I think people will view his surrounding talent on offense as lesser than the other players I mentioned. However, there is still more than half the season to go, so we'll see what happens.

Forgot 11th in QBR, 13th in CMP% :sas2:

Nah but his stats are looking nice, but there's a couple of guys with nice stats. It's fully open imo. And it seems like things are changing for cats like Mahomes too. Another thing to not underestimate is having big performance nights on primetime vs top teams, not just racking up stats vs random teams in games nobody saw

Mahomes has only played 7 games so far too. He has 200 more yards than Stafford once you factor in rushing yards as well 1 extra total TD. Tied for INTs. Is above Stafford in QBR while having one less fumble. And I think Mahomes has been more consistent IMO despite just getting Rice back and missing Worthy for basically 3 full games.

You can't judge DLs strictly off their sacks. Pressure rate, how much their doubled can be big factors. Chris Jones for instance wouldn't put up huge sacks (I know edges are expected to put up more than DTs). He's opening things up for others to have one on one matchups because he's drawing a double team on so many different plays.
