Very dumb and short-sighted. The NBA and NFL are the perfect "giffable" sports with amazing shyt happening withing a 10-15 second time frame. The NBA has become so popular globally because they were on of the first sports to adopt social media and promoting those kind of clips. It took MLB til about 5 years ago to start allowing their shyt on YouTube 
The NFL clearly doesn't know what made it so popular and is grasping at straws to try and fix a problem they don't have. Its like all theae businesses, if they aren't always making more money, they're failing and that's when they blame everything but their business model and do things that are only short term fixes that annoy people long term.
I dont think it's that big of a deal tho since I dont think many of those NFL team accounts were really the ones making gifs. I think they find them on the internet and post them. but for the NFL to try and "limit" the access of fans is completely foolish and I hope the ratings decline continues so they are forced to deal with the reality if their product.

its about the nfl controlling what content the teams posts so dont expect to see videos of who didnt stand during the anthem or videos of blown/bad calls,etc
now the only content they can posts is stuff from the teams official website(which the nfl owns and controls)
this new rule is all about the nfl controlling its own narrative

Yupp, this is a huge power grab by the league.
They are trying to go from a confederation of teams having the power, to it being centralized in Goodell. With how poor and openly disrespected of a commissioner this is, it is likely to fail

At this point I think that's what they're trying to do. Goodell seem to really wanna destroy the NFL.
Next thing you know this rule will extend to the fans too
