Someone who thinks she's right should attempt to explain why because I've listened to what she's said a few times over and it really isn't in line with reality.

They are experimenting with removing likes in select regions. Also the user will be able to see the amount of likes but others will not.

Thats exactly what happens though. You get 5,000 likes a pic, some company is going to pay you to wear their watch in the post and tag them. Or wear their bikini next time you travel. Its a million times cheaper than paying professional photographer to set up a shoot pay for a location pay an agency, etc...
And now IG wants their cut of the profits.

From my understanding, this is how chance got his backing.. His likes on social media is what go his backing..
And thats also why they champion him as the most successful independent artist.. Because his social media following preceded his mainstream popularity..
This is not how it works. the number of likes on a picture is the worst metric to use when determining if an influencer is worth paying to promote. Likes do not translate into sales.
Many people here would take issue with his claims of being an independent artist. There was nothing organic about his rise to success.
