Luka is a star that will draw fans, sponsors and most importantly revenue

Nobody cares about that 2 way stuff surround him with defenders. Dude is a top 5 player , pg is a 2 way player who ain’t even close to Luka level
PG kinda sucks rn tho

AD is still a top 10 player if healthy

Luka gets hurt and don’t play defense, it was very likely we saw the best iteration of the Mavs with Luka last year

I don’t agree with the trade made cuz Luka coulda been traded for somebody’s whole starting 5 and 3 FRPs

But trading Luka by itself wasn’t a bad decision imo, him and Kyrie were kinda redundant and Luka is in awful shape as a basketball player

Nico still wanted to compete at a championship level.

Yes, he would have gotten a haul, but he wanted to still be a top team in the West. If Kyrie and AD were both healthy, they probably would have been. Of course the issue is that both aren't exactly the poster children of health.

If Nico captures the Flagg :sas2:

Fam I can’t believe you look at him and aren’t concerned. He can’t keep him anyone in front of him at this point defensively.

Obviously he can’t stay at the weight he was when he was 19 but even from a few years ago look at him…

We are two seasons away from him being Slovenian Peter Griffin

Aww geez Dalton, this is even worse than that time I got traded for Anthony Davis

TYRONE GA!
You think if the mavs called Minnesota and offered Luka for edwards minny saying nah? :usure: they coulda still competed for a championship with edwards now and in the future with kyrie & that mavs frontline who already was good without ad.

He did call them. Matter of fact called them first from what I read. Minny GM was like :mjlol:

Winning championships also does all of that. And people do care. You can’t be a top 5 player and not play any defense at all fukk no

its also like cuban said they should have gotten more. at least another 1st if you couldnt get the lakers to part with reaves. that would make it a little easier to stomach and give them an extra asset to help make another move now especially with kyrie out or make their future a little brighter. an extra 1st on top of the one the lakers gave them wouldnt have lessened the backlash but its almost like since nico knew his tenure will come down to this ad/irving pairing that he didnt bother extracting as much from the lakers as he could.

I think Luka is a great player but not a winning player. All time greats have an ability to impact winning beyond just scoring and I don’t see that with him.

I use 28 years of age as my cutoff and at 26 years old, Luka has missed or is close to missing several key early milestones of an ATG player:

He’s yet to have a 55 win season, let alone 60. Highest is 52. LeBron won 66 games at 24. Curry 67 at 26. Jordan 61 at 27. Giannis 61 at 25. Jokic at 28. Kawhi 67 at 24. Harden 65 at 28. Tatum 60 at 25.

And he’s yet to win an MVP. Some may not say it’s a big deal and some all time greats did win MVP later in their career (like Kobe at 29) but Luka is lauded as being a generational talent. Yet he’s never come close to sniffing one. Guys like Bron, Giannis, KD, Jokic and Curry all won an MVP at 26 or younger. Kawhi probably gets one at some point if not for injuries and load management.

He’s flashy and has good numbers but he does not know how to impact a basketball game in any way other than scoring.

Can’t defend. Can’t play off ball. I mean literally if the ball isn’t in his hands he just stands there. Doesn’t hustle or fight for boards. Doesn’t set screens. Slow and outta shape, gases out in late game scenarios often. And has questionable leadership qualities.

Also plays basketball for himself instead of the team. He might be the biggest ball stopper in the NBA. I’ve rarely seen Luka make a quick swing pass or pass the ball not to get an assist but simply for the sake of moving it. He dribbles the life outta the ball for a cool 6-10 seconds every single time he touches it and grinds the offense to a halt. He’s a gifted scorer so he’s hard to defend but I feel like his overall play style makes his team easier to defend. When you look at other superstars who did the whole heliocentric offense thing, like Bron and Jokic, they know when to hold the ball and control the pace of the game versus when to make quick passes and run an offense. Luka only knows the first part. Those guys can also play off ball and give defenses different looks. Luka can’t.

I don’t blame him for the series loss though. Lakers are just poorly constructed and they have clear goals of playing the long game. But I don’t really see “it” with him.
Close the thread. We done here folks.

:what:

Yall are so hyperactive it’s ridiculous

The Lakers just didn’t have the time to fill that void left by AD but will next year. And even if they don’t, who gives af if Bron gets a title, they have a DECADE left with Luka

Meanwhile Dallas might as well blow it up now bc Kyrie may not resign

And most importantly even if you agree with the decision to trade him, the return package is unacceptable. People agree that OKC would hypothetically have to give up J Dubb or Chet to get 30 year old Giannis, what you think teams would have gave up for Luka?!? Atrocious trade and yall think 1 series is the deciding factor

If you guys can say “if AD is healthy” every year of that man career other posters can start saying “if Luka gets in shape”

All these arguments disregarding how Mavs fans feel by the way

Went from the Finals last year to not in the playoffs this year… “if AD is healthy” the nikka played 8 games for the Mavs and was wobbling around during the play in
