Every trade of this magnitude has to be run by ownership. I don’t even know why this is being put forth as an argument.
They did buy into what Nico was telling them, because they’re completely clueless about hoops. The fact he’s still employed either suggests they’re still under his spell, or they’re saving face. They’re fighting on the lie of it being a worthwhile trade because if they were to just fire him as a knee jerk reaction, they’d essentially be admitting they made arguably the biggest mistake in modern NBA history.
With all that said, Nico’s on borrowed time (stumbling upon the #1 pick bought him a lil more).
If Nico was fired after the fan blowback, the dumbass owners would look even more stupid than they already do. They’re not protecting Nico, they’re protecting themselves from embarrassment.
Like I said to the other dude - they’re fighting on that lie. Once they deem it’s a complete lost cause, Nico will be out of there.
I wish some of y’all would think things through before running up in here acting like you know what you’re talking about.
