Every trade of this magnitude has to be run by ownership. I don’t even know why this is being put forth as an argument.

They did buy into what Nico was telling them, because they’re completely clueless about hoops. The fact he’s still employed either suggests they’re still under his spell, or they’re saving face. They’re fighting on the lie of it being a worthwhile trade because if they were to just fire him as a knee jerk reaction, they’d essentially be admitting they made arguably the biggest mistake in modern NBA history.

With all that said, Nico’s on borrowed time (stumbling upon the #1 pick bought him a lil more).

If Nico was fired after the fan blowback, the dumbass owners would look even more stupid than they already do. They’re not protecting Nico, they’re protecting themselves from embarrassment.

Like I said to the other dude - they’re fighting on that lie. Once they deem it’s a complete lost cause, Nico will be out of there.

I wish some of y’all would think things through before running up in here acting like you know what you’re talking about.
I've said this numerous times dating back to when the trade occurred. Why the fukk didn't he reach out to other teams? Why was it Lakers or bust? If I was moving Luka last year, the first team I reach out to is the thunder because of their multitude of picks plus young players. I would have asked for j-dub plus multiple first rounders. Hell, he should have hit the Spurs or rockets. Both of those teams have extra draft picks and young players. Instead, he deals with a team that has zero draft capital and trade for an aging always hurt star.

None of those 3 teams would have traded for Luka. None of them have a fat crying out of shape cac on their team who spends more time crying to the refs than getting back on defense.

We have a history of coaches who didn't want to coach Luka. We have a history of players who didn't want to play with Luka. Trading him is harder than you think.

I'm sick of this racist fanbase giving all the smoke to Nico and letting ownership off the hook. The trade doesn't happen if ownership doesn't sign off on it, and it's clear that they didn't want to pay Luka. What's making this look worse is seeing Luka put up 40pts with ease, while Flagg is looking like a lesser Blake Griffin.

Everyone acknowledges the Mavs are owned by idiots that don’t know shyt about basketball.

People don’t want to acknowledge that Nico was interested in trading Luka before the new owners took over.

It’s the owners faults for all of Nico’s other dumb moves? For firing good fitness staff while his team is full of injuries now?

Yes, If he's so bad then why not fire him? Remember how fans were pissed at Jerry for not firing Dave Campo? Ultimately the owner has final say over every decision, and Nico can't make a move without their approval.

Facts.

If the Adelson/Dumont crew was Black, no one would even be talking about Nico. They only focus 100% on Nico because he's a breh and the owners are white.

"Fire Nico" is way more prevalent than "Sell The Team."

This all assumes Silver didn't have his hand in it. If he traded Luka to ANY other team, I'd buy into NH being an idiot. Handing him to the Lakers AND making it a sweetheart deal.....only Lakers fans and racist white Mavs fans wanna believe that shyt was all-square.

It's like the Spurs trading Wemby to Boston straight up for Tatum...right now.

The fact Dallas got the #1 pick when it was basically a 0% chance of it happening based on odds is proof. That wasn't Silver helping them. That was a reward for handing over a superstar to the Golden Goose. Like sending Myles Garrett and Josh Allen to the Cowboys in exchange for 3 lbs of brisket and a plate of nachos.

Silver knew as great as Luka is, dude was never gonna "max out" in Dallas. All the drinking and eating. He'd be All-NBA but not MVP with nagging injuries. Luka knows he can't do that shyt in LA. He wants a superstar in purple & gold with Bron getting close to the exit ramp. His biggest young stars would be in San Antonio, OKC and Dallas. He doesn't want al that talent concentrated in flyover country. He also sees how baseball is ticking upward....NBA knows it's place is behind the NFL in America but they can't let baseball jump em.

With Kiyan, Dybantsa etc., coming up next, don't be shocked if Dallas gets a Top 3 pick again. They're bad enough this season where it could happen naturally. They may keep getting good picks until the team has enough talent to bring the fans back in.
