It's still the same concept. The most salient things for rich people in regards to marriage are divorce and death. You can bequeath stuff to whoever you want. Plenty of chicks in our current society are willing to live with a guy and even start a family with him without being married. You aren't obligated to get or stay married anymore in our culture and you wouldn't be if polygamy was legal either. It's all about choice, whether it's legally recognized or not. And that's what this all comes down too...choice. If people wanted to live the polygamous lifestyle with the current law they could for the most part.

These things don't exist in 2016, especially when it comes to rich folks. Charlie Sheen was basically living that lifestyle a few years ago and the culture paid millions to see him ramble on stage about it. Laws aren't gonna stop any man that wants (and can support) multiple women from doing so and they aren't gonna make a man that doesn't want to live such a lifestyle live that lifestyle. My point is that nothing is really stopping them from doing that now if they wanted to.
