In 5th grade, the teacher was going around having us read. It was early in the year so we didn't really know each other like that and what to expect.

Got to this one breh and he prefaced his reading out loud by saying he's not very good at reading and he sounds alotta words out. :patrice:"ok brehski go head we understand".

Ni99a started reading and right off the bat he was sounding out the 1st word. Ni99as in there clowning, not even trying to follow along because we in there cracking jokes to each other.

Breh was on that 1st word like 3 minutes sounding it out:

"Teh-hee............teh-hee...................teh-heeeeeeeee"

Young N's in there clowning and laughing cause it's just his bad luck that he has a hard word to start with.

Finally some girl helped him out and said "That word is THE"...

:gucci:

Ni99as looked in the book....and looked at each other....:what::gladbron::russ: "This ni99a sounding out THE".....

my fukkin ribs :russ::russ:!!!

I learned how to read very early. maybe 3 or 4. Because my Dad was big into comics and i liked the pictures.
So we would read them together all the time. Eventually i started reading the comics on my own.
Went from comics to reading those goosebumps books in middle school. Stayed ahead of the curve simply because it was fun to me.

Crazy thing is i hardly read shyt now, unless you count online messaging

Same here. I read all my childhood, through college. Now I don’t have the attention span. It’s been years since I sat and read a book

my dad made sure i knew how to read good and early...utilized a library card well into my high school years...in college it was nothing for me to take out books from the library to read for enjoyment...not necessarily as a thing college students did..esp someone with my major

but the only time i read for enjoyment these days is if im on a plane and i carry my tablet which is full of books that i stored on it...its like the only time i feel i can concentrate to do it.. lowkey feel ashamed about this :francis:..i need to get better about this

actually i was about to say, only time i read now, is if i'm on vacation. If i'm chilling on a beach somewhere tropical i might take a book with me.
But shyt i haven't even gone on a real vacation in like 5 years. (too many work related trips, last thing i want to do is travel when i have some time off. I just stay at home instead.)

Funny thing is those of us that can read are on forums like this.

So even the dumbest poster here is miles smarter than many of the people out there.

Don’t let that fool some of ya’ll though, because based on some of the shytty logic and bad takes I’ve seen on here you’re still levels away from decent :russ:

Same here. shyt was also how I learned english as a kid. Fantastic Four mostly. I hated the Thing because I could not understand a damn thing he was saying at first. I didn't realize at the time he was doing an accent. I legit thought he was retarded. I would end up taking after Dr. Doom and talking like him because he spoke in large blocks that were easy to follow and didn't use any slang or euphemisms.

The funny part is it takes a full day at most to finish most books cover to cover, but I just don't want to. Does make me think something is wrong with me, and the appeal and feel of a book in hand does give a certain sense of something, but I just dont.........
