Nah, Nintendo NEEDS more powerful hardware. That shyt holds Nintendo back not only on games but on scope and basic ass features. When they said they needed to make Smash Bros Online with no voice chat in game to keep performance stable I was like

Anybody who is being realistic, should expect the new Nintendo Console to have specs on par with the Nvidia Shield.
The shield is basically an android TV set top box that can play some games at xbox360 levels. I hope the NX is more powerful than that. The wii u is already equivalent to a 360. All it needs is 4K streaming and you got the shield. I hope Nintendo is better than that.
Well what are some realistic specs that y'all are expecting? That article that @Fatboi1 posted abut the NX having the latest Intel i7 chips is LAUGHABLE!!!
Nintendo having a custom version of the latest or upcoming Nvidia Tegra chip makes the most sense to me.

Here's the thing... Nintendo dropped a console more powerful than a 360 and PS3 to a certain extent years after they launched. The Wii was really the weakest console Nintendo dropped in a while. They usually had something comparable to the competition most of the time.
Now the Wii U comes out and is basically their first foray into the HD era albeit a bit late and now they're already about to close that chapter. Now, that makes the Wii U and Wii 4 years apart and the Wii U was basically late to the party and came out the gate without guns blazing.
Now the NX allegedly drops next year which would make it 4 years since the Wii U. If the rumors are true, it should at least be on par with Xbox One for crying out loud. If they're not going to botch the console with some mandatory gimmick that drives up the price, I don't see it being powerful all that farfetched. They can drop a console next year that's on par with Xbox One or even more powerful than it and be cool for a few years while they straighten out their new focus on a streamlined setup without worrying about playing catch up at least on the hardware front. The PS5/XBone 2 realistically ain't gonna drop until 2018 the earliest with 2019 at least being more reasonable.. so I don't really see why people think they'd release a console that's weaker than Xbox One or PS4... I mean they'd literally have to re-release the Wii U rebranded to do something that stupid. It's no way they can not make it powerful when it just doesn't make sense not to. The NX HAS to be equivalent to an Xbox One in specs unless they're dropping something for frigging $200.

Honestly I expect Nintendo to release a $200-$250 box. If they release a $400 console they're finished. This is why something similar to the Nvidia SHIELD makes sense to me:

Personally I think they will try to release a console for no more then $250.. it may MAY be PS4Xbone level... but probably will be weaker and not come with a hdd. Nintendo will cheap out somewhere, like the wii u not having a fukking ethernet port.
And a new Ps5/Nexbone probably won't launch until 2019. 18 is too early and they won't want to wait damn near a decade again.
Anyway Ps4bone will just be hitting their stride next year.

either it has to be an x86-64 processor, or the handheld portion has to be the lead focus of the platform. anything else will cause it to have terrible 3rd party support

What Pachter said in that video is for real & makes a lot of sense to me. If Apple/Amazon/Google could get the 3rd party publishers to port over their most popular console games among casuals (Madden, FIFA, NBA 2K, & etc.) to the Apple TV/Fire TV/Android TV boxes, I'd legit think about about throwing traditional consoles in the bushes.Here is the panel where he disscused it:
