Wii U came out at the end of 2012

New Super Mario Wii U November 18, 2012
Super Mario 3D World November 21, 2013
Bayonetta 2 September 20, 2014
Mario Kart 8 May 29, 2014
Smash Bros Wii U September 13, 2014
Xenoblade Chronicles X April 29, 2015
Splatoon May 28, 2015
Mario Maker September 10, 2015

Basically, the console is nearly 3 years old and has 8 games worth getting. Not only that, look at the pacing they have. One game a year? Really? Oh but then in 2014 they finally got their stuff together and drop 3 games worth getting that year. How about the fact that not a single game worth getting is a new IP (edit: Splatoon is the only new IP they have worth anything). Cats have been begging Sony to allow them to change their gamertags. How about Nintendo and their friend codes? What's that online functionality like? Again, they got FIRE games, but what is that worth if the company and the consoles are TRASH? I'll say it again. Remember Sega. No you don't NEED a lot of third party support, but if you are going to rely solely on your first party games then you have to release way more of them way more often. Lets be real here. Stop blindly sticking up for Nintendo, when you know full well you aren't even playing any Nintendo consoles anyway to begin with.
Its a good companion console. With some solid games, but nothing here is making me salivate over Nintendo's next underpowered console.

i would add donkey kong, pikmin 3, yoshi wooly world, the wonderful 101 and mario party 10 from what i've played and enjoyed.

their games are fire, yet the consoles are trash? if you're talking hardware wise then sure, but who cares if you're having fun and enjoying it. i just don't get it. going by that logic, sony and microsoft should be in the bushes for PC.

no one is salivating over nintendo and blindly sticking up for them here. i've said it a while ago that the wii-u is what the wii should've been and that they have to fix their online experience to make it smoother/user friendly and more intertwined with all of their devices, but i've enjoyed the wii-u and look forward to what nintendo has to offer. it's a new gaming experience and that's something i'm always gonna be open to.

It's funny because I've heard lots of gamers with PS4/Xbox say theirs were collecting dust.
Right, so imagine the inches of dust on the wii U. Come on breh stop rocking with the flavor of the month and look at this objectively. Don't get defensive because I said I wasn't as excited as you guys.

You're using forum talking points to say why Nintendo is doomed. That's not objective, that's silly. There's lots to fix but saying they about to be dreamcasted and they should go that route is irrational. Going off there NX information and the leaks, it seems like they'all probably do it right this time.

Gamers are not loyal. Look at how nikkaz switched up to the PS4 after so many were Xbox players. A lot out gamers are casuals. If they can get that demographic in ON TOP of the core gamers, they'd be on top.

That's cool. Like I said in the beginning before this got spun off into paragraph responses, I'm just going off a history of bad decisions, therefore, I'm not as excited as I would be for the PS5 or XBOX 2

Nintendo SHOULD be dead. Why they are still around as a console manufacturer is beyond me. I didn't mention dreamcast, I mentioned Sega as a company. Good exclusives couldn't save them from bad decisions.

well because you're not up on facts is why it's beyond you. You're basically ignoring facts. You can't only look at today and only look at a software drought, hardware flop and ignore the past success.

Did you know that Nintendo can literally flop for about 30+ years until they're actually doomed?

Buried in reams of financial data is the revelation that Nintendo have 812.8 billion Yen (£6.7/$10.5 billion) in the bank – enough for it to take a 20 billion Yen loss (£163/$257 million) every year until 2052. Then there’s almost 469 billion Yen (£3.8/$6.0 billion) held in premises, equipment and investments. When that runs out – we’re in the year 2075 by this point – they’ve got some of the most valuable intellectual property in gaming to sell off before the company goes out of business.

They aren't operating like other gaming companies.

Nintendo has been getting a pass for way too long from the 25 year old + crowd. No real online strategy, no respectable third party support, even their flagship first party games come out with way too much time between each title. WiiU has been out for how long without a WiiU exclusive Zelda game? Where Metroid? Their controllers are a complete joke. I'm just as nostalgic as the next guy but I'm not immune to reality. Nintendo needs the casket lid dropped on it.

Woah breh...the procontroller is the best one out...imo...80 hr battery life :blessed:

And nintendo still makes a profit...they killed it with the wii, even tho gamers like urself may have abandoned the product. i do agree they need to stop bullshytting with third party devs, but when was nintendos 3rd party support ever great? 1993 with the snes? And even thats debatable.

Fun fact: The last time a third party game charted in the top selling SNES games with the Marios and Donkey Kongs was Street Fighter 2 back in 1992.

Why they being so secretive

Apparently its under strict NDAs and people have to go through a four step process to even see it :dwillhuh:

There were a bunch of leaks on the wii u. Those gaf threads got insane once the "real" horsepower started leaking out :whew:

people couldn't believe it

215 Uptown!
And how much are you playing those games today?
I'm not arguing whether the consoles have had their hits here and there but come on. You really not gonna admit that Nintendo has been the console real gamers buy when they have absolutely nothing else to spend their money on? Zelda, Mario, metroid, etc all untouchable classics, but those games don't come out often enough and the console itself is trash. Nintendo has made way too many mistakes, mistakes that should have put them out of business by now. I own all these consoles, and had my fun with them, but at the end of the day they don't have the longevity to stand up to ps3 or xb1 and that's just facts. I can't feign excitement for a console coming from a company that is on a level of complacency I have never seen before.

That's only the case with the Wii U which we all agree is trash. Every other Nintendo system the first party games itself was more then enough to warrant purchase. 3ds especially. Theres a triple a game being released on the 3ds damn near every month for the past 3 years.

Only reason the wii u is failing is because their first party hits are so far in between.

As far as replayability. What ps4/xbox one games are you still replaying?? :russ: I still go back and replay Mario galaxy 1 and 2. I haven't replayed a single playstation game since kingdom hearts 2.

A bigger reason the Wii U is failing is because it reminded people how the Wii was ultimately a dust magnet after being done with Wii Sports.

My Wii is a gamecube that can play Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy, and Xenoblade Chronicles. My WiiU is a Wii that can play Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros WiiU.
