I'll say this in Whisenhunt's defense: his QBs are atrocious and the Lions have more talent than Tennessee.

He clearly wanted two things Detroit wasn't willing to give him: more money and change the defensive scheme. :manny:

I'd rather face Manuel than Orton this Sunday. Manuel can't throw; at the very least, Orton will be able to hit some receivers. Their defense has been pretty solid this year too. Held the Bears to 20 and San Diego to 22.

Neckbeard can play. I'd rather play EJ as well.

Detroit Lions RB George Winn should see carries with Joique Bell, Theo Riddikk ruled out vs. Buffalo
ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions will be down two of their top three running backs when the team hosts the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. Joique Bell (concussion) and Theo Riddikk (hamstring) have been officially ruled out for Sunday's contest, paving the way for rookie George Winn to see extended playing time in his professional debut.

Starter Reggie Bush is expected to shoulder the majority of the load, certainly seeing more than the 10 carries he's averaged through the first four games. But offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said Winn, who was signed off the practice squad earlier in the week, would handle some of Bell's responsibilities because of their similar running styles.

The Lions will also be without tight end Joseph Fauria (anke) and linebacker Travis Lewis (quad) against the Bills. Cornerback Cassius Vaughn (ankle) is doubtful.

All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson (ankle) is listed as questionable and is expected to play. Running mate Golden Tate is probable after suffering a mild hamstring injury during Thursday's practice.

The Lions are also expected to get back right tackle LaAdrian Waddle. He's probable with a calf injury after missing the past three games.

Defensive tackle Nick Fairley (knee), defensive end Devin Taylor (knee) and safety Don Carey (hamstring) are also probable.

The biggest news out of Buffalo's camp is All-Pro defensive tackle Kyle Williams is doubtful after missing the entire week of practice with a knee injury.

Detroit Lions LB DeAndre Levy named NFC Defensive Player of the Month

ALLEN PARK -- After flying under the radar much of his first five seasons, Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy is finally getting the praise and accolades his play merits. On Thursday, he was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month.

Levy had an outstanding first quarter of the season for the 3-1 Lions, recording 38 tackles (six for a loss), an interception, three pass defenses and a safety.

He was also named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1, after racking up 10 stops and intercepting New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

Levy is the first Lions player to earn Defensive Player of the Month honors since Stephen Boyd in 1998 and just the second in the past 23 years.

Opposing coaches have certainly taken notice of Levy. Prior to last week's meeting with the New York Jets, Rex Ryan compared the Lions linebacker's impact to that of Luke Kuechly, the NFL's reigning defensive MVP.
"Oh man," Ryan said during a conference call with reporters. "Whew. This guy, and it's funny because I really never knew him and when you look at the fact that he's got seven interceptions, I'm like, 'What? Seven interceptions?' But that tells you a little bit about him.

"He's instinctive, he plays the run, he's got great timing. He's a heck of a football player when you stack him behind that defensive line of theirs. He's impressive, man. Really impressive."

Division rivals are more familiar with Levy, but even they've seen the steady improvements to his game.

"DeAndre has really made himself into a guy who is consistently considered for the Pro Bowl," Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers said earlier this year.

Despite recording 119 tackles and six interceptions last season, Levy was snubbed during Pro Bowl selections. Given his early-season play in 2014, and the increased awareness of his talents, that's unlikely to happen again this year if he can maintain his performance.

Stephen Boyd :dead:had to think about that name for a minute

"Eric Ebron 'zombified' by mental aspect of NFL"

Detroit Lions rookie tight end Eric Ebron said in August he'd already hit and broken through the rookie wall.

However, after four weeks of preparing and learning multiple roles as a move tight end, the rookie realized how easy it is for young players to get worn down by the mental aspect of NFL work.

"You start to get zombified sooner or later," Ebron said, per the Detroit Free Press. "I don't even know if zombified is a word, but you just turn into a zombie mentally. But you're there physically. Oh, your body's going to work, but your brain just stops."

As for that rookie wall, he's rethinking his earlier declaration, but in a distinctly zombie-esque undead fashion.

"If it's going to come, it's going to come," Ebron said. "If I hit it, I hit it, but I'm going to go through headfirst, so we'll see what happens after I hit it. If I die, I die. If I come out alive, I come out alive."

After averaging 23 snaps his first three games, his production was upped to 34 in Week 4, due to the injury to fellow tight end Joseph Fauria.

With Fauria out, we expect to see Ebron more and more in the coming weeks, especially in the red zone. That is, unless he's turns completely "zombified."

That's our two catches for eight yards, TD dropping, mismatch causing, tenth pick in the NFL draft bust of a tight end @eastside313 :bryan:

"If I die, I die." :mjlol:
