All jokes aside, im getting kind of sad thinking about how stupid some of you people are.

Yall are the same of idiots who didnt realize police lied until they came out with body cams

There are actually people in here who say/believe "quentin miller said he barely wrote for drake so that means he barely wrote"

:mindblown:

Are y'all retarded?

How do you function on a day to day basis?

Drake could come out and say "i admit it, ive been using ghostwriters since i left degrassi" and you clowns would say that he only admitted it to get people to leave him alone....he really didnt do it though.

these nikkas are pathetic

Nas is like my top 3 favorite rappers ever, and if references dropped of Jay elec spiting Nas rhymes, I wouldn't defend shyt. I'd disown that nikka

these drake fans need to do the same, or at the very least admit Drake is a fraud but they still enjoy his music because its good. That'd be respectable. There's nothing wrong with liking pop artists if u can be open that they're manufactured with tons of help

Im surprised to shocked Baby doesnt write?
Im supposed to be shocked about Iggy?
Im supposed to be shocked about Pharrell (even if its Snoop...he's been on cruise control the past few years...and he pretty much wrote the Cronic).
He put a shaq song:russ:

Yeah, this is a common PR tactic used by people who are guilty to try and fool the public. Evade and deflect and hope it goes away. If this was just some random rapper throwing out allegations, i'd say Drake might have been in a position to laugh it off. But we now have physical proof, and the fact he's still trying to laugh that off makes him look more guilty. If someone says I stole something, I can just say they're lying. If someone brings out video footage of me stealing, I better have a damn good excuse. The fact that Drake doesn't even see it necessary to provide a response to the reference tapes is damning and shows how little he actually cares about his art.
Whoever was the PR for Meek dropped the ball...or had an agenda.

It was a random rapper...that random rapper just happened to be Meek Mill......

.....who knew what he was doing when he bought a verse from Drake....REGARDLESS who penned it..

The industry insiders knew Drake had tracks ghostwritten, including other rappers..yet NOW its a problem.

This is only news to fans and people who are on the outside looking in.

Its only a problem with hip hop purists who feel rappers who proclaim to be of a certain calibre should be held to a particular standard.

Drake is pop music...his boat will stay afloat...

Cant say the same for Meek

In the essence of emceeing Meek's point is very valid..

But..

If you dont listen to Drake, what really the issue?

Word. Most degrassi fans would tell you that they heard the name "Drake" via random Degressi promos that had Aubrey in it. And most degressi fans would tell you they never imagined he'd go mainstream let alone be big as he is.

So imagine the surprise I had when I heard best I ever had for the first time on the radio. I thought he caught a break, or people acknowledged his skills, at first.

shyt is making sense now.

my first memory of degrassi (before i went back and became an avid viewer), was seeing drake on stage rapping in a wheel-chair.

i thought he was wack. sounded like some corny jay-z/linkin park mashup bullchit.

if you wouldve told me dude had plans on having a real rap career, i wouldve been like :dead:

Post the rest of the tweets breh. I mentioned you earlier for em

Ill add em to the other thread

It ain't about respect or any of that other shyt you talking

It's about liking how the music sounds. Most fans don't have the time nor cares to give a fukk about the minutiae of how a song is made
The problem is..cats are getting this street music mentality mixed up with the rap industry mentality.

Street Music=Keep it Real
Rap Industry=Keep getting paid

Its a fine line to do both nowadays and not to many artists can tread it.

Meek without a doubt dropped the ball. This could have elevated him to a new level, but he fumbled the snap, so he has to live with that. But this has been a Pyrrhic victory for Drake. He will no longer have the critical acclaim he so desperately wanted. He wanted to be King of both realms; commercial and artistic. He can go and be a mega pop star like Justin Beiber now, but that's definitely not the lane he was gunning for. And for anyone whose ambitious, as Drake has proven to be, that's the biggest blow.

And I do think there is a new problem. Until this episode, hip-hop had a natural buffer zone to over-commercialization. There was an aura of integrity to the art (although even that was slowly disintegrating). This kept the fakers and corporate interests at bay. So even if it was a different situation behind the scenes (which I have yet to see evidence of), the expectations of the people on the consumer side kept up the integrity of rap. But what we just learned is that the majority of people buying rap records don't care if the artists actually have talent or not. Perception is reality. The walls are down. Prepare to see hip-hop go the way of pop and rock.
