I do see where he's coming from with his "major vs minor leagues" talk. There needs to be levels and tiers in this industry.

but that major/minor league doesnt work in this current state of the game where any joe schmoe from up the block can rap circles around the supposed kings of the rap game and make better music than those clowns as well.

dude waited too late to try to talk that major/minor league chit. its too late to talk it now when the radio is flooded with bullish.

Oh word, u was in NY to actually speak on what was being played on the radio?

There wasn't any internet in the 80s and 90s, how do you think we knew about the west and south?

That "NY dont show Love to artists outside NY" is some shyt nikkaz came up with with no facts to back it up and people just ran with it and started quoting it like it's fact despite how little sense it makes

NY nikkaz was featuring down south nikkaz on their records long before the south got hot

And the west always got Love in NY

Doggystyle the first hop hop album I ever heard

Notice how Nore ended the video by saying NY should get behind the Q-Tip/Busta record. He didn't say they should get behind one of the New NY artists....he said get behind two washed up legends from the 90s. (both his friends)

Exactly..if they played nikkas who had talent from here u would listen right?..lol..shyt..Max B gave French his whole wave and they didn't even support him when he was grindin and it's funny cause Max got love from all over the place..I'm not sayin u or even I have to listen..but for the people who do listen to the radio..wouldn't it be nice if they heard some of our own artists and we got some of our identity back as a city?..they don't even play our older classic records like that unless it's biggie or some shyt..
Max had all types of Tri State love... had CT nikkas screamin "BLOW ME A DUB" :wow:

Plus he had a wide arsenal of song types. NY not supporting dude was the nail in the coffin for me. I dont fukk w/NYC rap anymore

When we gonna take back our power tho? ...

It's almost like those that complain are in the minority because nothing changes...

nothing will change, because like Nore said he wasn't complaining when it worked in his favour

Yeah, I agree. Who is Major? An artist who gets a cosign but hasn't paid any dues, just got a good cosign. Is Chance the Rapper and Migos Majors and NORE a minor league artist?

NORE has hits and some classic songs. In Ebro's definition he's a minor league artist. Fabolous too. Minor leagues by Ebros definition.

Now you have Rich Homie Quan. He is a Major league artist by the definition. So Any newcomer getting played on the radio in the South is Major and artists who have had hits and previously been played on the radio who are now not as relevent are back to the minors and need to "keep working".

Dude Ebro makes no sense. It's a shame that no one who is knowledgable has ever challenged him. Combat Jack tried but kind of sold out and let Ebro talk all over him. Remember when Combat Jack was pressing him about why NY radio sounds like that? Next thing he on Combat Show not being challenged and next thing Combat Jack and them are VIP guests at Hot 97 events lol.

Ain't no one gonna challenge anyone in this industry when it's so easy to quiet the opposing voices.

Same with NORE. If they start spinning his record tomorrow I guarantee he wouldn't have anything else to say and would probly start Saluting and Big upping Ebro.......

I agree it might not work in the current state but that is not gonna stop someone from Ebro as using it as justification for the records he gives the green light too verses the ones he red lights. But the major/minor talk is more of a protectionist measure for older artists that have worked their way up. It's just another form of seniority...think about whether u want someone at your job or in your career field to climb the ladder (over you) in such a short period of time....would you like that? I wouldn't. At the end of the day, everyone is looking out for their own interests and they will use whatever justification they need to use in order to gain or keep an advantage. Ebro is looking out for artists that have shown love and loyalty to his station, his brand.

i dont think someone from california should be in charge of a new york radio station. yall were doomed from the start with that. not only is he too much of a foreigner to new york, but hes a cornball on top of that.

do people really even bang with hot 97 anymore? i understand theyve been around much longer than power and theres brand loyalty there but dam. i assume that power plays just as much trashy music. but at least they have the breakfast club. does anybody in new york even listen to that hot 97 morning show? they dont even have any black people on there. i was watching the lil mo interview, and this ebro clown said that he never watched tv-one. this chit wouldnt fly in philly. lol.

i never got around to checking out combat jack, but after reading this post, im no longer planning on it.

youre right. nobody stands for anything anymore.

the east coast loved pac & cube. what are you talking about man?

the only gripe you have is that cube was getting stiffed out of radio play, aside from the predator joints.

Why didn't he tell the city to get behind "Everything" or "Show Me Love"?

i dont know what that is to be honest.

:manny:
