This just proves how much of a ny hater you are and a clown...don't think nikkas don't see right through you...it's ok to suck the dikk of a c level artist from your region (Mac dre) but when we big up a c level artist it's all " he wack blah blah" like our c level artist can't rap circles around your c level artist :comeon:...you have too much hate in your blood for ny and it's showing sit your non knowing ass down

lol I'm not from The Bay nor would I put any regional legend as an all-time great, which is my point. I think Cee-Lo is a significantly better rapper than Trag, has nothing to do with where they are from. A Cormega thread would have gotten a different response:manny:

Plus if I'm not mistaken Mega signed that deal with Def Jam when nas was telling him to wait because he figured after the Firm popped of he would get better offers...

I know on Mega DVD he said once he got the deal with Def Jam, he offered Nas a portion of his signing bonus, and Nas declined. And he said Nas started acting funny towards him after that

He done songs with Lake, Nature, Blitz, why would it be buisiness, what did he have to gain business wise from working with those 3 who were relatively unknown? Its obviously something personal.

Lake is an extortionist. Only reason people do songs with him is cause they scared of him (Except for Cormega). Nas did songs with Nature because Nature had a production deal with Trackmasters/Steve Stout and Nas was down with Trackmasters/Steve Stout too. That was all business.

You're an idiot. I hate NYC rap but 3 of my top 5 is NYC rappers? I lived there for multiple years? Trag ain't coming close to Cee-Lo. Should have picked a better NYC legend :manny:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Nas always did what he was told. Why you think Mega got kicked out the Firm and replaced with Nature even tho Mega was Nas childhood friend? Because Mega refused to sign Steve Stout's contract who would be taking a large percentage of his earnings, while Nature already had a production deal with Trackmasters. Mega was the only one without a deal with Stout/Trackmasters so they told him to kick rocks and Nas was just like :yeshrug:
Son that shyt was Mega's fault.. shyt was business fam...Mega was MAD stubborn and he had this idea that people owed him something...Stoute said it..Mega himself even admitted to it...Mega had issues with Chris Lighty cause of it..and virtually fukked a lot of his career over cause of hardheadedness and held grudges...Mega was the ONLY one in the Firm with no album..no buzz..none of that...AZ sold records..Nas sold records.. Foxy sold records...Mega?..nothin..yet he was the one being stubborn like he was the man or somethin..even Jungle even said..Mega is a good dude but he focused on Nas too much...nikka was used to being the man over Nas in the hood..couldn't handle it bein the other way around in the world..business is business..u can't let someone drag u down when it comes to ur job based on some personal shyt..it was other people who had to eat when it came to that Firm shyt..not just Mega..Mega was the only one who hadn't even proved he could move units yet..he didn't wanna sign shyt..fine..that's his right..nikkas ain't make him..but they proceeded without him...

This is the type of shyt I been sayin to him the whole thread.. He's done songs with OTHER nikkas from the hood that was no benefit to him..yet all of a sudden when it comes to mighty Trag it cause nikkas told him what to do or cause he didn't wanna link wit hood rappers who wasn't popular?..nikkas is literally just drummin up ideas in their heads and spewing them online.. All while defending them as if they're fact..

Trag had the lyrics to go beat first though

this was my favorite song on earth for like....months.....it was stolen from me twice.

:banderas: I haven't seen this in like 18 years and I always wondered who it was. I always remembered the last verse in particular, I didn't know it was Trag.

No one outside of the East coast would rank Trag as an all-time great. I have more respect for Bay nikkas saying Mac Dre is a goat or Southern nikkas stanning 3k than I do this stupid narrative.

ive never seen a southern 3k stan.

regionally, they have claims to GOAT status. so even if you are saying regionally that Trag is a GOAT, then he is GOAT nevertheless and pioneered a rap style that was of influence. I accept that. which is more credit than you try to bestow upon him by saying he is merely average.
mac dre is more of a local legend than a regional one.

tragedy is too tho.

Exactly. I mean, from my recollection, his image was rebuilt after Illmatic...ill lyricism or his being "better" wasn't really the reason for his blowing up while Trag stood at a standstill.

Nas was a "chipped tooth" "army jacket lining" guy...but the next album he was some wavy haired, Avirex leather jacket wearin, Lexus pushin, with a large diamond crusted medallion "golden child." I think a lot of that simply had to do with marketing...or the right industry people he surrounded himself with.

Had he stayed "Nasty Nas" ...he probably wouldn't have been any bigger than Tragedy is. Maybe even less so.

Funny thing is Nas admits to this...

He's ALWAYS said that after Illmatic he was at a certain crossroads. He was going have the second album produced entirely by Marley Marl but Marley kept throwing other rappers on the tracks that were supposed to be for Nas. Steve Stoute and The Trackmasters had to CONVINCE Nas to go more "mainstream" if you will on the second album. That "hand" that guided Nas early career that you speak about is Steve Stoute. Stoute fell in love with Illmatic and personally drove up to Queensbridge to find Nas and Jungle pulled a Gun on him. Steve Stoute put Nas with Trackmasters and helped him to cultivate the idea of The Firm. Stoute also saw that there was earlier competition and tension between Mega and Nas, so Stoute had Mega removed from the Firm and replaced with Nature. This led to the Mega-Nas beef as Mega personally blamed Nas for that situation.

It's not always STRICTLY about talent as we all know when it comes to the music industry. Nas in my opinion is the best rapper of all time, but this doesn't mean that artists such as Tragedy and Mega weren't dope in their own rights, they just didn't get that "helping hand" early jn their careers that Nas did, which is partly a credit to Nas for having good foresight and partly a discredit to the others for getting caught up in street shyt and ending up in jail or being shelved.

Like i said earlier ... I thought the beef was because Mega, who was an unknown globally, was stubborn and didnt wanna follow Nas' advice and he signs to Def Jam ... I didnt know Stoute wanted him removed.
As far as why he replaced Mega that I do not know. he could of just left it him, AZ and Fox.... similiar to the commision with Big, Jay, and Charlie Baltimore.

It was both..Mega was stubborn all over the place which is also why him and Chris Lighty ended up goin sour..like Steve Stoute said..he had an attitude like he was owed somethin...dude was immature..
