If college athletics as we know it has to completely be tore down, it will only be because of the greed and exploitation that has gone on until now. It's a hypocritical and corrupt system, bottom line.
The argument that thousands of other kids will lose their opportunity at an education isn't even really an issue that's in play. That's some side shyt that will occur as a result of reorganizing a broken system. There were slaves who didn't want to leave the plantation because they preferred that to the unknown world of freedom...
Also, when did you guys suddenly become a champion of education for athletes?? At a time when the real world worth of a college degree is at it's lowest, yet it's cost is at the highest, you dudes are suddenly championing an "education." I'm not going to totally slander higher learning, but let's not over state the value of a degree in sociology or some other liberal arts degree that has very little real world value. If there's one thing the workforce is not in need of, it's more kids with dubious liberal arts degrees.
